Ok, in anticipation of Canelo/Angulo I was rewatching Angulo/Kirkland.

Hell of a war, in which Kirkland ground Angulo down.
    It got me wondering:

If Canelo gets past Angulo, a logical next fight could be against another Angulo conqueror in Kirkland. Would certainly be an interesting match up, and would either cement Canelo's reputation, OR make a star out of Kirkland, a man that needs a high profile victory to establish his fearsome reputation.

Who've you got, assuming this ever happens?

kirkland is relentless. canelo has no stamina. kirkland has shown in the past to have a weak chin. could be a short fight with canelo clocking him or james tiring canelo out and eventually stopping him. a toss up either outcome would not surprise me

Yeah, it's tough to call. Exactly for the reasons you outlined. If showtime are insisting on keeping Canelo as a PPV fighter, these are the kind of opponents that they may need to help sell (ie exciting fighters)

No, but he sued to get away from GBP. I highly doubt GBP is going to give him a shot against one of their biggest stars if they don't have to.

Oh ok. Didn't realise that. Such a drag, I could've envisioned that battle actually happening.

Kirkland's chin isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Yeah the whole Ishida thing but it shows how important Wolfe is to have in the corner. If his chin was that bad, he never would've got up from that right hand that Angulo dropped him with and go on to do what he did, within the same round. It's not a great chin, but it's not that bad.

Well, that was in Kirklands best interests. He had what many perceived to be a huge win over Tapia, and is trying to rebuild himself. Fighting GGG would only get him KTFO and sent way down the ladder again.

That being said, I think Canelo would stop him, as Kiklands boxing skills are very rudimentary and he doesn't take a punch well.
