Surely Canelo can beat the fragile jawed Makabu and become WBC Cruiserweight champion... Thoughts?

He's not iron chinned but he's eaten serious leather off of Kudryashov, Durodola, Cieslak and Papin and managed to beat those men. He also loves a war and has good boxing skills, particularly offensively. He might have a very leaky defence but as Canelo said himself cruiserweight is simply too big for him. Those are large men, both in height and width. Makabu is a very stocky individual, very powerful at the weight too, he could knock Canelo out because a great chin fails after a certain degree of punch hits it.
Makabu is also probably my favourite fighter so I'm quite biased but he still is no one to mess with at cruiserweight. He's not even that weak of a champ, has one of the strongest résumés in the division.

For some reason it feels that Clenelo's team is looking for a shot, glass jawed or old opponent that's bigger than him so that he can destroy them at a catchweight and proclaim himself champion at yet another weight class.

    Next thread: Canelo vs Charr.

Believe it or not so would I. Obviously Charr would have a massive weight advantage but Canelo would be much much quicker and younger. Might be like the Amir Khan fight in reverse :D

Makabu via KO or TKO if there no short notice and clauses.
Clenelo = clauses A side cash cow hometown boy.

Ofc Makabu will not win on cards regardless how this fight will look if Clenelo will finish 12 th rounds on his cash cow's legs.

If it were at 200 for sure Makabu. At 190 he will be weight drained. If its not fixed even at 190 he has a solid chance.

Canelo by knockout. The last time when Makabu was close to making 190 lbs was August 2013, he will be extremely drained at 190. Add here that Canelo is better than Makabu in everything except of punching power. All Canelo will need to do is to avoid getting heat cleanly in the first 4-5 rounds, Makabu will be badly tired afther that at 190 lbs.

Canelo was struggling with jab and tap VS Kovalev.. Makubu isn't that type of fight but he's big and carry's genuine stopping power.
He can be hurt himself and got wrecked by Tony Bellew but i'd think Bellew hits harder than Canelo.

Strange fight, but with Canelo's backing and mexican meat he will probably.

    Why is it a 190lbs?

If this happens Makubu will be weight drained, reminds me of the Ray Leonard Donny LaLonde debacle.

I think Canelo most likely stops Makabu. Makabu is strong and can punch, but other than that brings nothing else to the table and makes too many mistakes that a seasoned vet like Canelo will take full advantage of.

I’d rather Canelo fight the winner of Beterbiev-Browne, since I see either one being more competitive with Canelo.
