It was a close fight. I actually thought Mosley deserved the win, but could see an argument in favor of Cotto.

Nonetheless, the triangle theory doesn't work in boxing.

It was clearly the Cotto was protected (although Mosley might have under-performed) who was tired and out of his feet in the later rounds. But HBO (which possible had even Mosley winning) and their promoter wanted their undefeated shooting star winning, instead of a past his best supposed. Also got he favoured vs. Corley and Judah by the referee, where he did some fouls when he was in trouble (rocked) like low blows.

This. "(X) beat (Y) and (Y) beat (Z) so (X) beats (Z)," is probably the dumbest, most easily disproven theory of combat sports that somehow persists through time.

Anyway, I can see the path to a Margo victory (throw punches and pile points while counting on iron chin to hold up) and there is a reason Floyd avoided Margo and Paul Williams like the plague, but I don't think activity with slightly-less-than-moderate punching power is the way to beat Canelo.

I also thought Lovemore Ndou edged him, and the Clottey fight was also very close and could have gone Clottey's way had Cotto not been the house fighter.

He was halfway to putting a beating on him in the second when his eye gave out. I'm all for ripping Margarito for being a cheater, but let's not pretend Miguel Cotto was some iron-chinned giant.

I never understood why is margarito so so so so overrated in this forum

Imho margarito is nothing special. And in this forum he is a bit less than a god, for god knows the reason.

Because the idea of Margarito (tall, all-action fighter with reach, power, a chin, and the energy to throw punches from rounds 1 thru 12) is too awesome to consider the reality.

Well I think Mosley won clear and the commentator (Letterman) had him in front as well. He was also lucky against Torres, that who came short notice of 10 days (when Branco rejacked) and was several times on the verge of getting knocked out/ stopped there, what was perhaps the fight of the year.
Corley could have stopped him somewhere between round 3 and 5, if the referee didn't act like he did (and this opponent is not known as big puncher, rather like smaller Byrd), Judah would have him likely knocked down in the first round, where stole Cotto few interruptions to go out of this and find his legs back, who couldn't recover from these Golota treatment. The referee here didn't even hint about the fouls, let alone warn or penalize Cotto for doing this (series). It partly reminded me to Norwood vs. Gainer almost or to some Ward fights (vs. Kessler, Kowalev among others).

Idk who would've won this, without the brick wraps. I just put it as a draw to be plain and simple.

Margarito had loaded gloves against Cotto, Pacquiao beat Margarito in a catch weight was probably drained on top of that Margarito was coming from a brutal beating from Mosley and didn't have his loaded gloves, and let's not forget Pacquiao had extra wraps in the Margarito fight. :deal:
