Why it shouldn't happen: Because Floyd would be battered @ this stage in his career Mayweather don need to fight a younger stronger heavier fighter.
(Unless he wants to get "Leonard/Norris'd")

    Why it should happen:

    Because he has Canelo's belt.

Some people on here talk some right bollocks. Their number 1 and 2 in the division, both hold belts in the division, both are marketable and theirs not a better fight out there for either = shouldn't fight:patsch

    than we disagree.

canelo is a ligh midd. no a LH. I dont give a **** about fight night weight, floyd has the same chance, to gain as much weight as he wants. in floyd weight class welterweight.

there are no comparabale (as you say) boxers skillwise at welterweight, except manny, who he wont face either. so either he steps up and fight 154 boxers or he should ****ing retire, because watching his boring fights against guys like devon, timmy or robert who will end as one sided UD's are so boring that retiremant is better.

secondly dont act like floyd is so damn old. he still looks athletic and is athletic and yes he can fight at 154 and he should fight the best there.

I bet even if the promoters made a dyhadration clause and ordered either canelo or martinez, that at fight day they are no allowed to weigh more than 155, even totaly dyhardated version of martinez and canelo, where floyd would have a big advantage, because in later rounds you feel very tired when you're dyhardated, even than this damn chicken would be to scared.

Very sad indeed. Mayweather has been facing bigger fighters most of his career and this would be the fight he's known for most. He has no "career defining fight" and this would be the biggest test in his career. He's never fought a smart combo puncher with decent D. I also like how many were saying Canelo was "too green" but now he's too big. Like Floyd would be the only fighter to fight someone much bigger than him and it shouldn't matter since Floyd beats everyone/everything mythically.

It would be the biggest win of his career considering he's past it, 36 and would be faced with a serial size disadvantage. Corrales and Castillo were bigger than him too and legitimate threats, but Floyd was operating pretty much at a peak level around the time save for his injury in JLC I.

you not giving a **** about something doesn't change the fact that its stupid, for an aging small WW to fight a 172lb man when he's at the twilight of his career. a younger manny, fought a slow ass no skilled margarito at a catch weight, and the consensus was that he should never do that again, too small. Now people want an older Floyd, to face a guy who is 22lb heavier. That's dumb

He wouldn't need one. More weight won't help Canelo. He would just be that much slower. He and Trout were VERY SLOW last night compared to Mayweather.
