This is a good fight for Mayweather which favors Mayweather but it's also a good fight for his legacy. It's a very tough fight though. Canelo is young, and in his prime, this is as dangerous as fighting a prime Cotto. For his legacy this fight if Mayweather wins, he will could be up there next to Sugar Ray Robinson and guys like that. The guy is 35 and still hasn't lost a fight, and he's still beating young guys in their prime. This isn't even prime Mayweather.

The difference is Canelo has world class talent and could end up being a HOF or ATG himself. I don't see Jr as ever being an ATG or HOF type talent but just a champion.

This is a fight which is good for Mayweathers legacy. I don't know why Mayweather is taking on all the tough fights in the twilight of his career when he could have had an easier time fighting these fights in his prime.

The fact is Mayweather may end up being the greatest boxer who ever lived by the time he retires. If he goes and beats Canelo, give credit where credit is due, he is top 5 ATG.

Maybe more dangerous than Martinez because Canelo is prime and getting better.

    No.

Because Canelo is a GBP fighter. That means a deal can be discussed, reached and all but signed between before it's even time for a lunchbreak. It really is that simple. Secondly, Canelo represents the highest amount Floyd can possibly make out of any fighter in the sport sans possibly only Pacquiao because of public perception. Certainly more than if he fought Martinez.

I don't think anybody can deny - with a straight face - that despite Canelo not proving himself against elite 154 lbers, 1) Floyd isn't a Junior Middleweight, he's a welterweight at this stage, 2) Alvarez will be notably bigger on fight night (big time), 3) Alvarez has the power to hurt Floyd and make things immensely interesting, 4) Floyd likely can't hurt Alvarez, which means he's going on 100% skill, 5) Nobody can ***** about this fight, period.

Managing to outbox Alvarez over 12 rounds without feeling his power is so much easier said than done. Floyd rarely even uses much movement in the ring anymore, and has fought far more stationary out of the shell ever since he made the move to 147. You'd be a fool to consider this an easy fight. Canelo has every reason in the world to go right at him and try to take his head off.

minuses- Alvarez has been feasting over some double leftovers, and is a lil young/inexperienced. all I can think of really

pluses- Alvarez is pretty big, and physically prime. floyd's got some balls if he signs this just after seeing pac get annihalated

Agreed. Specially weighing 150lbs in the ring. He can still make 140lbs.
True. Specially considering this fight will be at 154. Canelo will be pushing 170lbs.

He definitely has power, so did Cotto and Mosley. Which I feel had better one hit type of knockout. I think Canelo has the Vitali type of power. He can hit you, but it's more like a consistent beating. Maybe that's just me.

I think he can. We all just watched Pac get knocked out by Marquez and Pac's been in there with a lot of good punchers. Floyd's great at picking his punches. He can hit him with some shots he can't see. Specially since this is too early in Canelo's career for the fight.

As a diehard fan, I can find something to complain about.

Not finding a way to make the Pac fight. We are now left with this fight, which is the best available. But I'm sorry. It is the best available but this is again, too early for Canelo and I'd rather have Floyd fighting, Pac (before he lost) Marquez. or Martinez.

It's not like Martinez wouldn't cancel his April fight...

not really that messed up, I'm sure even if Guerrero doesn't get Mayweather he'll find his way into a reasonably good fight

**maybe even fighting Maidana on the PPV undercard, Maidana's a decently known name, and would be a good scalp to add for Guerrero

unless Bradley leaves Top Rank that fight has zero chance of happening. So Tim's just gonna have to keep living off the Pacquiao win

This would be an amazing fight...the more i see canelo fight the more i think its impossible to beat him..if moneymay beats canelo,,it will give him many points to his legacy.

if canelo beats trout soundly, he's more than ready for floyd... but at this point he's really an unproven fighter... picking on the little guys
