Tell me what you think of the Ace Hudkins footage, it’s praised as Walker’s best technical performance on film. I also like the Tommy Milligan performance.
Yeah all I remembered about him was that he was a small slugger. I think Schmeling is about to KO him but I have to say Walker's gameness and toughness have impressed me. Max sent him through the ropes with a tremendous right and Walker responded with a flurry and attack the moment the action restarted. He'd have been better advised to hold and clear his head I think, but this man has big brass balls thats for sure.
Milligan is the guy that Walker KOd iirc. Walker has heavy and accurate hands. If he gets a guy in trouble he doesn't let them off the hook. However what I don't like is how easy he is to hit in turn. His head movement is not great and his hands are low. Schmeling pops him at will, almost.
Have you seen the full Milligan fight, and the Hudkins fight? I’d say his movement and defense in both are good, by the time he KO’d Milligan he didn’t have much problem slugging with him since Milligan was a walking corpse by that point. He breaks him down rather easily throughout the early stages of the match and doesn’t get hit cleanly in return. With regard to the Schmeling fight, I’d say Walker didn’t have many other options but to use his left hook. Against Schmeling, as the smaller man, this plan was doomed to fail and he was bound to put up a pretty poor performance. He’s playing into Max’s game to the fullest.
