I love this fight for both fighters. One of the best action fights that can be made in the sport. Lets all hope this fight gets done.
It will probably get 200 to 300 max. Floyd started with 300 per fight. I think Canelo wont get over 200 and if he does it wont be much. Still a success.
the problem with williams, even in his prime, was consistency. in his best night, i have no doubt that he would beat canelo and make it a hell of a fight. but in his bad night(s), he would get stumped, prime or not.
if this fight generates 1M buys, it would put into perspective how many buys he helped floyd's card with ortiz and cotto.
Canelo would become PPV king in just a few fights. Who the hell sells 1 mil PPV when just a few fight ago they pulled a little less then 2 mil viewers on regular HBO ?
I think the problem with P-Will is lefties and poor defense. Unless Canelo fights as a lefty, I can see P-will making the fight close by outworking him.
I like this fight and any combination of Alvarez-Williams-Kirkland is good to me. No way this is a huge selling ppv, 200,000- 350,000 is probably the range for this fight. I don't think Williams is shot, not at his best anymore but he's not a shot fighter either. He's always gotten hit too much and has always been inconsistent but he still has enough left to make this a good fight and Williams outowrking Alvarez to win a decision wouldn't be a shock. As far as Lara getting a shot at Alvarez that won't happen until the WBC forces Alvarez to do so and I don't know too many people who think that will happen. Lara is simply all risk and little reward.
You don't need to be a lefty to hit PW, he has always had **** defense, unless Carnelo tires, I think he wins this by stoppage.
I thought Pwill looked ten times better verses Ishida then Williams, Let his hands go, Ishida has a great chin, stoppage would have been good but hard. Still no vintage Williams. Canelo UD 12 ( 117-111, 117-111, 116-111 )
I was thinking about this fight as a possibility since PWill appears to be a legitimate yet somewhat vulnerable opponent. I think Paul can win a close decision.
PWilly is the backup in case Kirkland's shoulder won't be ready (should find out this week) and it's also likely being floated around as a negotiation tactic with Kirkland. It'll be Canelo-Kirkland assuming the shoulder is good to go. Much more intriguing matchup IMO.
anybody can look great hitting the heavy bag which is the same when fighting a shot over the hill old fighter :hat
