This PPV is the result of the spat between Canelo and DAZN, which exposed DAZN's model as untenable without PPV. Canelo is too big for the platform, so he gets pushed off to Showtime PPV where he has no brand awareness. He was HBO and then DAZN and now this. The fight is not going to sell well. Someone has to step up and take boxing by the horns in the United States. Fury/Wilder III exceeded expectations because Fox and ESPN promoted the hell out of it. Showtime doesn't have that kind of reach, and once they take a bath on this one fights like this either won't happen or will be offered a la carte PPV on some other platform.
If Canelo didn't leave DAZN, this fight wouldn't have happened. It would be Canelo vs Bivol/Beterbiev/Zurdo/GGG 3 most likely. The quest for undisputed at 168 is fallout from the split, he saw there was an easier fight that would help his legacy/promotion by making him an undisputed champion.
I unsubscribed when Whyte pulled out of the Wallin fight tbh. There's been rumour of Canelo going PPV for a while, DAZN is 7 pound a month, not worth it if there's no big fights.
I don't think it's a secret or anything. And it's not illegal. The fight is free in Mexico. It's on Azteca 7. It's a national television channel, like NBC. On Roku or online, you can find the TV channel Azteca 7 in Mexico. One of the benefits of Roku is you can download apps from countries all over the world. Roku has apps you can download and watch live TV channels from Mexico for 99 cents a month. 99 cents is cheaper than $80.99. You can also watch Azteca 7 on the internet. Just find it today, watch it tomorrow. Roku also has apps that have television channels from Eastern European countries. Many apps from Ukraine and Turkey and those countries that enjoy boxing tend to show boxing matches that are PPV in the US on their local network stations. Just have to find the countries airing the fights for free and it'll be on one of their TV apps. If any of them charge, it's usually only a dollar a month.
I thought everybody knew this... i seen that it would be Canelo's first fight off DAZN since a while ago. It's on showtime. But i wont buy it. Not spending 70 on PPV again
