De La Hoya was at his physical prime at 135 and 140. Only moved up because of the bigger fights at welterweight and above. We all know how Canelo does against welterweights not named Floyd.
De La Hoya was better, but naturally smaller. I would say his peak division was 140. Still, I would pick the DLH who fought at 154 in 2001-03 to beat Canelo at that weight class. Or if you add a pound and make it for the 155 lb. middleweight title, Oscar probably wins a decision.
This fight has Draw written all over it or split decision. One things for sure it's going the distance (both have too high of a fight IQ/ guaranteed chess match)
Close fight, it could go either way, this version of Canelo is superior to Vargas, Mosley and would give De La Hoya absolute hell, Canelo takes it 8-4 or 7-5. And I say that as someone who prefers De La Hoya.
