I have Clenelo lighting Rocky up like a firecracker early on before eventually gassing and getting outbrawled by Marciano toward the end of the fight. Canelo rarely resisted a slugfest when the opportunity presented himself, and doing it against arguably the greatest “street fighter” of them all is a bad idea.

IMO, the fight’s duration is essential in determining the outcome. Rocky probably loses over 12 but wins over 15.

On the question of size, Marciano was 5’10” to 5’10 1/2” trained down to an absolutely fit and ready 185 lbs.

Canelo is 5’7” to 5’7 1/2 and trained up to a max. 175 lb at an absolute stretch - and quite possibly juiced to get there.

This isn’t about nostalgia or not gaging the actual size difference between the two men.

Highly reasonable to envisage Rocky pulverising Saul in short order.

I remember seeing a few sources list Canelo as rehydrating to 180 lbs on average for his fights at 168, and against Kovalev I’ve seen as low as 175 and as high as 188 being listed for Canelo. Whatever minuscule weight advantages Marciano has wouldn’t really impact this fight imo

It would be interesting to see official rehydration figures for Canelo.

There are several available for Usyk at CW and they weren’t as high as what many had speculated.

Not that they were always necessarily accurate, but I’d love to see a return of the old, classic tales of the tape.

    Is this a joke?

Marciano was a legit 200 lb fighter (and he was in decent shape at 200 lbs) who trained down to 185 lbs to have outstanding endurance.

    Canelo is a small LHW.

Even though there is only a 10 lb or so weight difference, Marciano hits much much harder than anyone Canelo has ever faced. Marciano had freakish power.

Marciano mauls him and stops him in 6. Canelo doesn't have the size or slick boxing ability of Walcott or Charles to go longer.

Jesus. What's next? Sanchez vs Hagler?

To my knowledge there haven't been any official reports of Canelo's fight night weight for quite some years.

Official reports of his fight night weights from a decade plus ago, include:

    Hatton - 151.5lbs to 165lbs
    Mosley - 154lbs to 167lbs
    Lopez - 154lbs to 164lbs
    Trout - 153.5lbs to 172lbs
    Mayweather - 152lbs to 165lbs
    Angulo - 155lbs to 174lbs
    Lara - 155lbs to 171lbs

Looking at Canelo vs Trout, Angulo and Lara relative to him vs Kovalev and Bivol, I'd guess him c.180-183lbslbs in the ring versus the latter 2.

Alvarez's doesn't have the skill level , endurance or
speed to keep Marciano off with stick and
    move tactics.
Alvarez doesn't have the power to keep
Marciano honest, with his fights at heavier
    weights usually going the distance.
    So how does he win?
Right, he doesn't and would eventually
    be steam rolled by Marciano.
Say what you will about Marciano's lack
    of speed and skill level.
A few things for sure, he's not going
to get worn down by lack of endurance,
and he's going to be coming at his opponent
from the 1st rd, to the 15th with the same
    intensity.
He didn't have Shavers or Foreman level
power, but he never seemed to lose the
power he had as the fight progressed.
Alvarez has never seen the type of
aggression he'd face if Marciano was
in the opposite corner, and, let's be
honest Marciano beat bigger and better
    skilled opponents than Alvarez was.
Marciano crushes Alvarez in 9 rds or
    less.

Canelo is a natural junior middleweight and a small super middleweight. He has nowhere near as big of a frame or the same bone density that Marciano has. Marciano had to train himself down to make 185 not lift weights and bulk up for it as a natural junior middleweight.

Obviously Canelo must be the prohibitive favorite with his modernism and superior athleticism.

But I can imagine a way Marciano might squeak out a decision.

Marciano would be 210 with modern training and peds, maybe even more.

    Right.
    Milennial Rocky would dwarf Roidelo.
But even 50s Rocky outsizes him.

There are not enough PEDs available for Roidelo to overcome his physical disadvantage, not even mentioning the skill gap.

Possibly, but in the inverse him being 5'10" with a 68" reach, he'd have likely been encourage to cut weight and fight at 168, Canelo's weight class funny enough.

Disagree. Canelo Alvarez has been a superb fighter. Stiff puncher, excellent boxer and counterpuncher, good defensively and tough as shoe leather. But if he doesn't want to ruin his record and expose himself to permanent injury he should retire now. Naturally he won't.
