He beat the crap out of two out-boxers and movers "in a row". Both guys can box very well and Canelo ended their career. Canelo's adaptation ability for different styles is damn good. Is Canelo's trouble against slick movers debunked? Thoughts?
I think Canelo has overcome to very difficult styles that are frustrating to fight and he stopped both so he definitely deserves recognition for doing that.
No, BJS gave him problems and was doing well before the injury. Yes Canelo deserves credit for landing hard enough to cause an injury but I still wonder how that fight would of played out had BJS not been injured. Canelo still probably would of won but it would of been close on the scorecards. Plant has good head and upper body movement but his movement isn't great. He tends to back up onto the ropes which against Canelo is just inviting disaster, a good mover knows to keep the fight centre ring where he has room to move and not get pinned onto the ropes. You see him do this in other fights not just vs Canelo it's the main reason why I never gave Plant a chance.
Lara, Trout, Saunders, and now Plant. People think they know boxing but they really know diddly squat. I read someone in this forum say that Canelo looked lethargic tonight, that he was'nt able to land consistenly clean vs Plant. LOL, people are so dumb, there has'nt been a fighter in history thats going to land the same quality shots on a fighter thats constantly moving on him that he would on a fighter that stands to trade with him. Thats just common sense. For being a natural counterpuncher, Canelo was fantastic against plant, plodding foward against Plants shoulder roll, hooking his body and hooking back upstairs. Canelo was applying steady and educated pressure, without advancing at such a hurried pace to where he could get countered clean by Plant. The body shots were doing serious damage to Plant. Hit the body and the head will eventually fall, and Plants head finally did in round 11. A textbood exhibition by Canelo on how you take down a good moving boxer with a height and reach advantage over him.
Plant showed me he's a B fighter, he can box extremely well but he had nothing for Canelo. Canelo simply kept his guard high and walked Plant down cutting the distance as the fight progressed and Plant never once landed anything of substance to halt Canelo's advance. I'll give Canelo credit but looking at his recent wins at 168 there's a serious lack of punching power with his opponents.
Plant sweets hands are slow and lack explosiveness. He do shoulder roll but is a bigger target to hit since just say he is a bigger target. Specially the side of his body. He doesn't really bend at the waist or parry well. So really a poor version of a 36 year old version of Floyd at that.
do u consider Bivol as a slick boxer? because i really don't know...he move well but not as fast like Plant or Bjs or others slick fighters
