It was inevitable this one would come up. But an interesting bout for sure!

I'd probably give Tony the edge, as he is slightly thicker built and was so powerful and relentless in his attack.

However, I must say that Canelo is looking more and more like the real deal. He really is evoking images of Pipino and young Ayala for sure.

at this point Canelo just because he has fought better guys and is champion. It is very hard to say for sure how good Tony would be with top notch guys since he never quite reached that level of competition.

Alvarez has been better schooled and moved at 154 to 160 pounds... Ayala was overrated in 1981 and 1982... I gotta go with Alvarez over Ayala......

My opinion hasn't changed. Ayala would have KO'd Canelo. Hate to say it, because Ayala was a waste of life, and Canelo seems like a good kid.

Ayala was never gonna beat Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, but that doesn't mean he wasn't legit.

Canelo has more talent than we originally gave him credit for, but I still think he was less talented/less powerful than the young Ayala.

Ayala would have blown away Josesito Lopez within 2 rounds.
