Only fights that make sense for PPV, cotto don't wan't it. So he ain't an option till maybe late 2012, or next year.

**** Kirkland and his 1 handed injury that he would be willing to risk himself for some $$$ like some handicap BS... Please GOd no... a 2 handed kirk is an easy job a 1 handed KIRK would be like fish in a barrel that is not worthy of PPV specially after Molina completely dominated him, and he got saved by GBP with his DQ win.

Trout /K9 are sellable fights so I think they will be going this route because of the unifications, the hard one would be that Lara fight even though it would probably be the best fight out of all 50/50 at its best... as is the Trout fight.

This sucks so bad though, Canelo P will was a dream fight... to bad for accidents.

trout didnt look like a ppv candidate last night,k-9 is old and still has pending some business against CS.
Lara would be easy to match since they have same promoter but Lara represents high risk and no belt to unify.
But we should all forget about JK, even if he fights for free.

. . With all due respect to P-Willy, Lara dominated him. . . The only reason I would have argued for Williams (if still healthy) getting hte fight over Lara is because of the style-mesh that Canelo/Williams would have presented. . .

However, since he's out (God grant him speedy recovery!), Lara should be in. . . .

But since we all know GBP don't wanna risk Canelo losing, I think the THIRD OPTION should have been Kirkland. . . But once again, since Kirkland is now out, I think the

FOURTH OPTION should be Cornelius Bundrage. . . I think he'll come to fight, and the style mesh would be great between him and Canelo. . . Might be a little bit biased cause I really like K-9, and have actually met him a few times. . . He deserves the payday, and

I think most of us would like to see Lara get this shot. He's the toughest fight for Canelo beating him would get Alvarez a lot of respect (I'd pick Lara for what it's worth).

Most Cuban fighters seem to fall into the high-risk/low-reward category though, since no promoter seems to know how to successfully market them - even exciting super-talents like Gamboa. I fear that GBP will be happy to complain about other promoters avoiding Lara while they're equally reticent to put him in there with their own cash cow.

Another title-holder is probably the best we can expect.

If Goldenboy had Lara more active and gotten him bigger fights the no-name factor might not exist right now.

Yes, I agree. . . I'd favor lara, and you're right about him being very high risk/low reward. . .

it's not so much Golden Boy's fault, as it is the boxers with the names. . They've tried to get him the fights, but nobody wants a piece of him. .

Williams was the only guy willing to step up. .

If Golden Boy aren't willing to put Lara in there with one of their own name fighters, why would they expect other promoters to take that chance?

It's not all their fault though - no-one seems to know how to make Cuban fighters into marketable stars. Unfortunately for guys like Lara, selling tickets counts for more than talent.

GBP are insisting this be a PPV.The only "name" opponent that could sell and thats available may be Pavlik,as he is now fighting as a SM.

Excellent point, excellent point. . . Lol, that would be hypocrisy at its finest.

Yeah, I don't know why they don't put shows on in Miami with them as headliners? Guarantee they'd sell at least as well as Andre Ward does in Oakland (5-10k).

Also, isn't there a decent Cuban population in NYC? I know it's costly to make fights there, but **** it, if you got a guy with world class skills, he's a potential superstar, and you have to market him accordingly. . . Every promotor should know you gotta spend money to make money.

And yup, Lara's pretty much the worst type of boxer to be nowadays - FEARED, world class skills, but not very popular to mainstream fans.

Does this absolutely have to be a PPV? I think they need to take a look at themselves trying to force this.

Have a feeling it will be Canelo vs Ortiz, especially if Victor has an easy night in a couple of weeks.

Depends on how much money HBO/SHOWTIME willing to put up to make the fight. . .

But I really think they want to use this chance as a "test run" for Canelo; they want to see how well he can sell on PPV without a guy with a name known to mainstreamers.
