If you believe so - What was your scorecard ? I felt the result was correct due to Canelo landing the more effective punchs .
1 - Trout - Won the fight with Jab, straight to the body, Won on Workrate 2 - Canelo - Landed better punches, Better Combination 3 - Trout - Outboxed Canelo, good movement 4 - Canelo - Landed the better punches won a even round towards the end 5 - Trout - Won simply on workrate, threw alot of nothing punches - Close round 6 - Canelo - Trout had workrate on his side, but Alvarez landed enough clean punches to even it up, won the round on Defence - Close round 7 - Canelo - 10-8, better punches + KD 8 - Trout - outjabbed and outworked S.A 9 - Canelo - Both men exchanged good punches, Canelo with the cleaner punches, again better defence 10- Trout - outworked Canelo, Canelo with the better punches, but in this round Quantity>Quality 11- Canelo - Landed the better punches, Outboxed Trout, seemed to stun him towards the end aswell 12- Trout - outworked Canelo Total 114 - 113 - Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, although close on the cards, I only see one winner and that is Alvarez, He landed the better punches, showed better Defence and offence. Trout simply had workrate on his side. Trout Even admitted he lost to the better man and he did. On top of that it was open scoring so Canelo knowing he is well ahead took breaks and played it safe
I have to say im quite surprised . I was expecting many posters to come in here screaming out robbery left and right . That has not happen yet....... SO FAR
I think it was really convenient for Canelo to know that he was ahead so that he could take a few rounds off. Open scoring ruined the fight. (and open bad scoring at that)
James Foley (Bad Left Hook): 115-112 Alvarez Patrick Connor (Queensbury Rules): 117-110 Trout Kory Kitchen (Bad Left Hook): 115-112 Alvarez Cliff Rold (Boxing Scene): 116-111 Trout Bart Barry (15 Rounds): 115-114 Alvarez Lee Wylie (The Sweet Science): 115-112 Trout Jake Donovan (Boxing Scene): 115-112 Alvarez Brian Campbell (ESPN): 115-112 Trout Adam Abramowitz (Saturday Night Boxing) 115-112 Alvarez Mark Ortega (RingTV): 114-113 Trout John Whisler (San Antonio Express-News): 117-110 Alvarez Lem Satterfield (RingTV): 114-113 Trout Michael Rosenthal (RingTV): 114-113 Alvarez Tom Gray (Seconds Out): 114-113 Trout Bob Velin (USA Today): 114-113 Alvarez Tim Dahlberg (Associated Press): 114-113 Alvarez Steve Zemach (Queensbury Rules): 114-113 Trout Alex McClintock (Queensbury Rules): 115-112 Alvarez Ryan Maquinana (Boxing Scene): 114-113 Trout Dan Rafael (ESPN): 114-113 Alvarez Steve Lillis (BoxNation): 115-114 Trout Ryan Burton (Boxing Scene): 115-112 Alvarez Raymond Markarian (The Sweet Science): 115-112 Trout Paul Magno (Boxing Tribune): 114-113 Alvarez Stephen Smith (British fighter): 115-114 Trout Ishe Smith (American fighter): 116-111 Alvarez Its pretty much even between both fighters .
I had Canelo winning by a point. Trout was more active but was missing a lot and landed very few meaningful punches. Canelo was throwing less but landing the harder, cleaner shots + the KD gave him the edge
Unless you're a **** fan of either guy you have to admit the fight was close regardless of who you scored it for and to me, if its a close fight you can't really call it a robbery. A robbery to me is when a guy wins 10 rounds and gets a big 'ol L on their record for it. A 7-5 kind of fight can't be a robbery in my opinion.
