Canelo Wants Pac Man

Do you think a Canelo Pacquiao fight on Cinco de mayo weekend would top any mayweather fight? Like which fight is better? Canelo vs Pacquaio or Mayweather vs Cotto II?

 

let's quadruple card this, Arum would be proud. Cinco would be great at this rate.

 

I think it will be very similar to the Margarito regarding size v. speed. Margarito was 2" taller than Canelo (who’s ‘only’ 2.5" taller than Pacquiao). Maragrito has a 73" reach, Alvarez has a 71" reach, and Manny has a 67" reach.

Margarito came into that fight at 165. Up from a 150 catchweight. If Alvarez has a similar catchweight then I’d be really surprised at him weighing more than 165. For reference, Alvarez weighed in at 170 for his 152 catchweight with Floyd. Those extra 2lbs will play hell on Alvarez regarding rehydrating.

Based on past evidence Pacquiao has the advantages in every category except size and power. Canelo completely blew it in the Mayweather fight (his main advantages there were size and speed). Maybe he’s learned his lesson and will get physical with Manny?

 

Pacquiao has only fought above 147 once.

It was a 150 catchweight.

And it was against a guy who was unranked, always was unranked at the weight, and nowhere close to being ranked (Margarito).

Alvarez hasn't even fought at JMW, technically, in over a year now since the Floyd fight.

It just doesn't add up. I would be pretty shocked if Alvarez vs. Pacquiao gets made.

 

Canelo needs to get the fuucck on and fight his weight. Big ***** is a middle weight.

 

Pac would have to move and fight a more defensive fight then usual. Not sure he could take the punches from Canelo and the way Pac fights, I find it hard to believe they wouldn't be exchanging several times throughout the fight... I'd have to pick Alvarez but I wouldn't make him a massive, unbeatable favorite.

I don't think Alvarez/Pacquiao was on Golden Boy or HBO's mind with this signing.

 

I can't see Pacquiao beating Canelo at this stage.
