I think there are similarities. He has his opponents scared to commit to straight punches because of his ability to slip and counter. Ok, he doesn't walk forward bobbing his head, preferring to catch/parry/block, but the result is the same. He makes opponents shell up on the inside because of his superior punch selection, speed and power. He has a fast, great jab which isn't particularly telegraphed seeing as how many get through. I prefer this version of canelo to the younger one. He used to throw extremely fast but not particularly powerful 6-7 punch combinations. He now throws punches in 3-4's but they're much harder. I also think his rythem change is better - mikes rythem never changed - it was always as hard and fast as possible. He can also go backwards which Mike couldn't do. I personally think its a pleasure to watch him box.
Tyson was a destroyer but they both use the Duran counter/pressure style and they both chopped/chop down bigger guys, Canelo`s high guard and counter style is a little like the peek a boo but Tyson was more aggressive and just better.
