His opponent was as game as any undersized but brave warrior putting everything on the line and looking for another upset, but my SNV, Canelo just destroyed him. Those Golovkin sparring sessions must've helped because he's a controlled beast now. Some defensive holes but I guess he didn't particularly care about D in this particular fight, you trade with him and it's unlikely you'll get the better of it. The stoppage was just about okay, it could've continued, but well before the final barrage a game Lopez' head was a bloody mess and his body red from those punishing blows.

Yes the opponent was physically weaker but Canelo still had to cut him down (Lopez actually had the reach advantage) and he did it with ease. Nice variation too. Tell you what, he fights Martinez at 54, and that's an even fight, never mind the 12th round yesterday. He fights Floyd, that's 40-60, but a live underdog vs. Pretty Boy. He fights Cotto-Trout winner, I think he gets the stoppage, as well as vs. Pacquiao if he ever dares to enter the LMW division again.

P.S. his trainer should ****ing sing after fights. What a character!

The 4 boxers you mentioned, I'd favour them all against Alvarez. I'd favour them on experience alone, not even taking in to account other factors.

Unfortunately my statement beats yours on experience alone, never mind other factors such as I have more GTMSBT points or that I've met Sugar Ray Leonard in person recently, and I have proof.

    No.

Mayweather takes the **** out of Canelo.
Pacquiao is still too good for him, even in steady decline.
He has a good size advantage over both, but size is not everything.

Cotto and Martinez have a good chance at stopping Canelo, especially Martinez.

This is not me knocking Canelo, he's still young and has plenty of time, but he has not been tested yet.

IMO julio should be in the p4p rankings,

ok he stepped up in competition and lost, but his going to come back strong, and i'd tell him to stay middleweight, although he might be even stronger at 168, we shall see.

o yeah, to topic, i didnt watch Canelo, wasnt really botherd about it.

Chavez outweighed Martinez more yet he got his ass spanked. Had Victor won it'd be "don't glorify a 140lbs sparring partner" just the same, yet he went on breaking Ortiz' jaw for the stoppage so he had punchers chance coming in and was game. Only Alvarez answered with as good a performance as you can get, credit goes to smaller defenses. Don't underestimate the Buster factor!

Canelo should look forward a big fight against Martinez and not Mayweather. It would be as big as against Chavez, again Argentina vs Mexico but in the Junior MWs.

Canelo was impressive last night. The if factor still surrounds him because of the opponent. He looks to have the goods. Its kind of sad that this thought still lingers with a guy with 42 pro fights. His age will not be an excuse any longer. No more weaker, smaller, much older opponents. Lets see the greatness that I think is in there.

Man he's a big strong kid. Whenever Lopez would land something significant Canelo would put the hurt on him. Can't wait to see Canelo vs a top JMW

He beats the brakes off Cotto or Manny, gets beat by Floyd, gets ****ed up by Martinez. Canelo looked very strong and especially fast last night.

He is 22 and fights like a veteran, regardless he was in the ring with a natural 144 lb fighter he was supposed to look ruthless.

Very good handspeed. Few actually cared to check he only moved up to LMW some 2 years ago, now he's at the perfect weight for his body and speed, skills and reflexes are coming together.
