Canelo wasted his Floyd shot by trying to box Floyd, he needed to Brawl/Fight ..

Floyd made seem like a dear in the headlights. Canelo was afraid to open up because he was missing and getting punished in return . . . his confidence was shot. Canelo is a boxer puncher not a brawler . . . that being said Floyd is good at keeping fighters of balance and out of position to throw no matter what their style.

It happens after most fights, if 1+1=2 then 2+2=4, yes but no, boxing is called the sweet science for a reason but is a lot more complicated than basic arithmetic. Your analogy is not wrong because it's your opinion, but you see it after many fights, if this fighter would have done what he did against x-fighter, then he would have won or performed better against y fighter, if it were that simple, boxing's moniker would be the boring science and not the sweet science.

Canelo wasn't stage frightened. You talking about the same Canelo that said he was born ready. The same Canelo that dissed Floyd in front of thousands and hundreds of thousands. Not that Canelo. What really happened is that on the biggest night of his life the kid got his ass beat.

Canelo is not a come forward pressure fighter, Roger summed him up pretty well saying he isnt this monster everyone is making out to be, infact he is more of a counter puncher, this is why Floyd made it look so easy.

youre talking about style makes fight.

boxing as sweet science pertains to boxing more about being methodical (science) and artistic/graceful (sweet) than just being violent and brutal atop the ring like you see in any ordinary fight.

in other words, boxing is a sport, not your typical back of the alley brawl where there are no rules and anything can happen.

This is actually what I was expecting from Canelo with me being a fan and all.

I mean the mind set of Canelo of actually thinking he had faster reflexes and timing and that he could beat Floyd at his own game of countering him, I mean that's foolish.

From the outset that plan should of been to press Floyd and try to pin him near the ropes rather than keeping the fight in the middle of the ring where Floyd would dictate and which he did and set the tempo.

Canelo needed to make his size and weight count which he gave away by standing off, I just feel a more offensive and pressing would of made the fight closer rather than the one sided boxing lesson Floyd gave him.

Key to upsetting Floyd's game is to keep him off balance by pressing and increasing your output and try to use the jab as much as you can.

I said in the leadup to the fight that Canelo had to tweak his style and become a real hunter.
Do what Hagler did vs Hearns, Chavez did vs Rosario by taking a seek and destroy type of attitude into the ring. Kill or be killed!

There were moments where Canelo put the pressure on Mayweather and he was being competitive fighting in that style.

Canelo is a good boxer, but he's not the x's and o's master that Mayweather, which is why Canelo had to look to put the pressure on and impose his will.
Canelo did'nt do it and it was'nt because he found out he could'nt, it was because he decided he was going to fight that way he normally does and let the chips fall where they may.

Great fighters tweak their style and tweak their gameplans.
Juan Manuel Marquez knew going into his fight with Barrera that if he boxed Barrera, any round resembling close would side with the sentimental favorite Barrera, and thus he'd likley lose on the scorecards.
Marquez thus became the aggressor and took the fight to MAB forcing him to have to fight at a higher tempo than he'd like and that Marquez normally would under neutral circumstance.
Marquez did something similar again in his 4th fight with Pacquiao. Knowing there was'nt anyway he'd get a decision, he chose to throw less combinations and load up more with the right hand to see if he could catch Pacquiao harder with it.

You look at the situation and you adapt your own style to give yourself a chance at victory. Canelo did'nt do that against Mayweather.

Canelo did fight the wrong fight vs Floyd, but I don't think he has the tools to fight much differently against Floyd. If they fought again, it would be another easy Mayweather UD, that is if all three judges actually watch the fight.

    @programmer

That's what I'm saying, the simple truth is, without going into the politics of boxing is, Alvarez was supposed to look as good as he did last night.
