Credulity and ducking are 2 different things. Regardless of who cinnamon has fought, if he has a MW belt and his mandatory is GGG at MW, he should fight at... You guessed it, MIDDLEWEIGHT! Advantage? The dude weighs more on fight night than most of his opponents and now your telling me that he will "move up" within the same division when he's ready?? Am I missing something???

They should get rid of the 154 and 168 weight classes. It would be better for boxing. Just implement same day weigh in also.

This is why boxing is dead. Oh well, I haven't missed anything
by being away. Is Danny Garcia vs Rod Salka 2 happening soon?

This interview was from before he fought Cotto. He’s saying he won’t give his opponent weight advantages like he did vs Floyd. Canelo knows that agreeing to Floyd’s weight demands drained him as a fighter and cost him a victory, and he won’t do that again.

As opposed to draining himself to make 152, moving up in weight won’t be unhealthy for Canelo however if he still has “unfinished business at 154" like the interviewer said then he’ll want to stay closer to 154. If GGG is allowed to weigh-in at 160, then that will force Canelo to gain weight to be closer to 160. However doing that could make it more difficult to fight at 154 once again after gaining 5 additional pounds to get up to 160.

That’s why I think it’s a good idea that he fights Smith in May for the vacant 154 lb titles. If there aren't catchweight money incentives written into the GGG fight, then Canelo might never fight at 154 again because he’ll probably gain those 5 extra pounds to get as close to 160 as possible and if he were to beat GGG at 160 then hll be the man at MW and he’ll probably could just stay at 160 lb.

If he recaptures the WBC 154 lb title in May then he would probably have until 2017 to defend that. I’m not sure if Canelo plans on fighting in both the 154 lb and 160 lb division. But I’ve got to imagine he’d like to recapture the title he lost vs Floyd before fighting GGG.

In this interview, he’s being asked to go up in weight and take on the titlest in the weight class above his. You said he "should be ashamed to call Himself a Mexican..?" Canelo has taken on the highest ranked fighters in his weight division. He’s fought legends like Mosley and Floyd. He’s fought slick boxers like Lara and Trout. In this interview he’s about to fight Cotto. I mean it’s not like Canelo is taking an easy road here. He’s going through the biggest names of the sport.

He is truly a warrior for taking on all these tough fights and coming out on top. Fighting GGG is something that fighters like Floyd or Cotto are too scared to do!! Literally Cotto didn’t even pay the sanctioning fee, he had no interest in fighting GGG.

Unlike these cowards who refuse to fight GGG, Canelo is actually stepping up to the plate to make this fight happen in September!

Technically anywhere from 155-160 should be good.

I'm guessing fight takes place around 157.:deal

Canelo's case simply shows us that we need more weight classes.

Canelo weighs in at 3% less than Golovkin. That's like the difference between peak Tyson and peak Ali (216 pounds vs 209 pounds)

We’ve been through this before. I was referring to the vacant JrMW titles, like the WBC JwMW title that Canelo held before he fought Floyd. Given the WBO’s rule regarding two division champions, it would make more sense for Canelo to fight Smith for the 154-lb titles vacated by Floyd. To refresh, this is the division where Canelo has been ranked #1 at for years and has beaten the highest ranked fighters in this division.

I think that also makes sense for Smith, as it gives him an opportunity to capture another World Title if he were to beat Canelo. He’s undefeated, Canelo has been the #1 ranked JrMW in the World for Years. It sounds like a World Title Fight to me. There’s no one more deserving at 154 than Canelo to fight for those vacant titles is there?

Canelo is the biggest PPV name in the sport right now. I seriously doubt he gives 2 ****s about a middleweight belt. The sport is past belts, it is all about $$$$. This is a business. If GGG wants a fight with Canelo, he will move down the 155, if he doesn't, he can fight for that vacant belt. Golovkin already has belts, yet people still hope that one day he will fight a worthy opponent.

When proud Mexican Fight Fans call a once revered Mexican boxer El Pollo like they have Canelo then you know something is wrong. The reason for this hypocracy is crystal clear Canelo knows he can not beat Golovkin. Its that simple
If Golovkin wasn't around El Pollo would be fighting at 160 because on his fight nights he outweighs GGG by 7-10 pounds
You say people hope GGG will fight a " worthy opponent" but the truth is we wish the so called 160 pound hiarachy had the cojones to get in the ring with him:patsch:patsch

  Gennady GGG Golovkin the REAL Middleweight champ

This would be the same Canelo who regularly steps into the ring at between 170-175, right? 10-15lbs over the weight he is supposedly not ready to fight at?
