What you people have to realize is that Canelo doesn't need GGG he's the cash cow he calls the shots. If Triple B side wants this fight it will be on Canelo's terms not the other way around. Canelo can fight anyone and make more than Triple B Side can. Triple B side can either accept this or move on. IF Canelo says he's not ready for 160 then he's not ready period.:deal

He was ranked #1 as a JrMW prior to the Cotto fight. He was never ranked as a MW until he became Lineal MW champ.

Canelo is a JrMW and it is time you understood that. You continue to say he’s a MW, and though he won that belt from Cotto, he has never truly fought as a Middleweight vs a Middleweight. Canelo's last fight was against Cotto who weighed-in below 154 lb. He beat a JrMW for that title, so lets be clear just because he holds that title doesn’t mean he’s a Middleweight.

After fighting Floyd and before fighting Cotto, he had no reason to make 154 since they were non-title fights, so he came in at 155. Please understand he stopped being ranked as a JrMW when he won the MW title, before that he was strictly seen as a JrMW. Likewise, once Cotto dropped the MW belt he once again appeared in the rankings as a JrMW.

Fighting Smith for a 154 lb title in May won’t require him to bypass Golovkin. The WBC & WBA should recognize that Canelo has been ranked #1 as a Jr MW and grant him his long overdue title shot for one or both of those titles. Golovkin is still planned for September as the mandatory defense of the MW Lineal Title.

It is unclear if Canelo plans on fighting at 154 after fighting Golovkin. Regardless, Canelo deserves a long overdue title shot at 154. Liam Smith would probably rather the fight be at 154 lb (as opposed to a higher catchweight) either as a defense of his title OR for an opportunity for another world title at 154. Hopefully they can work something out, as I think Canelo vs Smith could be a great fight, but in my view it should be for a World Title at 154.
