Puncher avoidance is a thing but you can't claim someone who has fought GGG twice has never fought a top level puncher. But outside of GGG he hasn't fought many KO artists or legit bangers, especially for someone who has had as many fights as he has These can all punch a bit to varying degrees GGG Jacobs Lara can crack a bit with that left hand of his Callum Smith Bivol has underrated power Kirkland Angulo Cintron Prime Kovalev is about as top level as it gets but he was washed and threw pitty pats and half power shots all night
I do not consider GGG to be an elite puncher. In his prime he was a pressure fighter. A very good puncher, but not a great puncher.
I believe if there was 15 rounds, Bivol would dropp Canelo several times. He was tired, his stamina was not elite. So if he fights someone with crazy stamina and workrate, eventually he gets dropped.
He's absolutely an elite puncher. There's an awful lot of fighters, more so than any other puncher I can think of in recent years, who will tell you otherwise. He might not be a Julian Jackson or Lemieux type of one punch KO artist but he hits ridiculously hard. This content is protected
Absolutely agree with that...just not quite sure he's talented enough to land it on canelo....no disrespect to Smith who I really like...just canelos abit of a slippery fcker and Smith's offense is sometimes abit basic
It depends on how you define elite puncher. I do not think Golovkin punches as hard as Lemiuex or as hard as Smith, Beterbiev or Wilder p4p. There are guys who clearly punch harder than him. So that means he not a tier 1 puncher.
He's one of the hardest punching MWs of all time and hardest punchers of his generation. Beterbiev isn't typically a one punch KO artist but virtually everyone who's shared a ring with him will wax lyrical about his power tell you he's the hardest puncher they've fought or sparred. It's exactly the same with GGG
GGG is definitely an elite puncher, and the way Canelo stood upto his best punches without hitting the canvas shows he has an elite chin. When you have a 90% KO ratio, how the hell can you not be considered an Elite puncher?
