No fight is inevitable as long as the alphabet-soup, Panamanian-registered federations are in charge.

Honestly? The smartest thing Benavidez Sr. could do right now would be to publicly-threaten to have his son fight Morrell Jr. Then Canelo's people might realize "Oh, ****! Benavidez will lose and then that's one fewer big money fight for Canelo and it's going to increase public pressure for Canelo to fight Morrell."

Dangerous bluff, but it might get the job done.
