I fully agree. Though it's a bit convenient to say GGG is faded. I accept that he was avoided for a while, but that he didn't face anyone stylistically difficult and even had trouble with Kassim freaking Ouma means we can't dismiss his recent close fights to age. He's now shown clear vulnerabilities to elite boxers, not just lateral movers as I thought going in, but to someone with the skill to time him as he comes in, and even outjab him in the centre of the ring. Canelo proved he has the skill to outbox a huge punching, aggressive, solidly skilled middleweight. He took a couple hard shots and handled the power well. In a rematch he'll be the more confident one, because he won't be wary of GGG's power, and he'll be able to guage his distance and draw GGG into counters more easily. His stamina over 12 rounds remains an issue. He'll need to better manage it in a rematch, he shouldn't try to outwork GGG, especially early. There shouldn't be a big psychological advantage for GGG, in fact I think if he believes he was robbed he might suffer from overconfidence, like Kovalev. Canelo won't hinge how he thinks he did on an individual scorecard, he'll look at it as a draw that he feels he deserved, but that he has to improve on.
That's the best chin in boxing. It'll keep him in every fight, and will allow him to stay strong late again in a rematch, as much as I favour Canelo to improve.
To be honest I felt Canelo took alot of punishment tonight and might not be the same. I felt many times he was ready to go but GGG showed him too much respect.
GOAT chin? I'm trying hard to think of others with chins as solid. Has Golovkin ever been stunned? I remember - I think it was - Lemiuex hitting him with one shot that might have bothered him for a split second. But that's it and he wasn't even wobbled, more of a "damn... That was hard" reaction! And yet he was still nervous of Canelo's power. It's almost like some kind of cheat code lmao, I mean how can you take out someone with the real life equivalent of infinite HP, who pressures relentlessly with constant high power shots for 12 rounds... His opponents just have to rely on purely outboxing him to a 12 round decision. GGG was too nervous of Canelo's counter punching to unload on him on the ropes to the extent he usually does with other opponents. I remember him backing off a few times of his own accord (without even getting nailed by a counter), whereas usually he just stays right there in his opponent's face on the ropes, punching over and over and over and over... For 12 rounds straight.
Why do all of you thin GGG is declining?? He fought mediocare-decent opposition up untill 3 years ago then he stepped up big time, imo he is not declining, he was great this fight and yet he dominated Canelo, if he goes to the body more he will have an even easier time next fight, Canelo will have doubts in his head, he knows he lost, you could see it in his eyes. So GGG has the psychological advantage. I seriously don't understand why you discredit GGG for this win (I will always refer to this fight as a victory), he fought one of the best P4P fighters in the world and handled him without great difficulty.
gg cant be more aggresive. He left nothing in the tank. Canelo, on the other hand, looked like fighting at a very slow pace. Gg was reduced yesterday to a provodnikov kind of fighter. Only workrate made him keep his belts, sheer workrate, nothing else.
rofl, the cowards life style. Were is the warrior dude? hahahahahahaha Amazing what canelo have gotten, canelo reduced gg's fans to "run for your life, gigi, run.... dont look back!!"
Canelo stood and traded, didnt you watch the fight? he stood on the ropes, dude, even after being advised not to do that, he did it. do you want a fighter to stand and trade 100% of the time? then blame golovkin too, golovking didnt do that, he backed too after the attacks.
A rematch favors CA. They ducked GGG for 2 years and after the robbery, he'll be even older. CA has time on his side.
Golovkin isn't going to get a fair shake in Vegas though is he unless he knocks him clean out? This was supposed to be Golovkins true test but he won this fight more comfortably than against Jacobs. He's never going to get this fight outside of Vegas with neutral judges so what's the point?
Im not convinced there will be one. I think Oscar and Saul will argue that the rematch should be in the same city on the same terms and GGG and K2 wont go for it. They will want the fight to take place well away from Vegas and i wouldnt be surprised if they demand drug testing for Canelo and maybe more money too. Getting Oscar to agree to any of that wont be easy. Also if it did happen within the next 12 months i would favour Golovkin as it was only a few hours ago i watched Golovkin beat Alverez.
