Not so. Canelo built up an early lead and then coasted, but GGG didn't really manage to inflict enough damage to make up for it. Close round that I would tip to Canelo.

No, but building up an early lead will, if your opponent cant do enough to win it back.

You stated "that fight was not a draw" and are trying to use the consensus having GGG winning as proof of that. "Who the consensus thought won" and "how close the consensus thought it was" are two different arguments. You did this with me several months back when you refused to admit that the fight was close while the consensus of posters on this forum acknowledged that it was close and could be argued either way or even.

You've recently gone as far as to say "if one had to argue the fight round by round, you could conceivably argue a shutout for Golovkin."

You're deep in GGG la la land my friend. Your exchange with ElCyclon is humorous because you're trying to argue something (the fight wasn't close, GGG won clearly, the fight wasn't a draw) based on something that doesn't prove that (the consensus having GGG winning). Even many of your GGG comrades don't agree with you that the fight wasn't close or that a draw or even a Canelo victory isn't reasonable.

Your view that the fight wasn't close or that a draw isn't reasonable is your individual viewpoint, and the consensus having GGG winning itself says nothing about how close the consensus saw the fight. The fact that most of those who you cite as the consensus (the 100 or so media polled right after the fight) who shared their scorecards had it 7-5 GGG, 8-4 GGG or a draw appears to speak how to close it was. It certainly doesn't disprove that it was close or that a draw or a Canelo victory is reasonable.

I would have described it as "Canelo was competitive in the first three rounds, and then Golovkin turned up the heat and spanked him."

is stating that he feels that a draw is ok. I posted evidence to the contrary ... and he still has to back HIS statement up.

    1) If you think a draw was reasonable, and want to show a lot of people think so, then post a poll reflecting this.
    2) If a fight is close then usually people poll closer than 90% backing one fighter. If the fight was that close the polls would have been 55-45 or even 60-40 either way. They weren't. The winner was clear.

    Got a poll?

There's not a single round that I have seen a consensus on that round being a definite Canelo round, no questions asked.

I await evidence that most people think a draw was reasonable.

Individually they either actually believed Canelo won the round or they were paid to cheat the score cards. We will never know which is right so we i would have to say they believed he did enough to win the round.

I didnt score it to Canelo, He was looking to finish the fight strong like how he started it and he certainly picked up the pace in the 10th but in my opinion didnt do enough to win it, he certainly won the last 2.

If you’re paid off to cheat on the cards, that’s not how it’s done. You wouldn’t just wait until the last three rounds....It leaves no margin if there’s a one sided round in the other guy’s favor.
