Oscar...Floyd...and now canelo....they all ran with the idea that top rank came up with on setting major PPV's on Mexican holidays.
He's taking the Golden boy and Money Mayweather route. I think that he should be more active. He's only going to lose some of his sharpness fighting once a year.
his not fighting golovkin anytime soon golovkin wasnt the shot fighter they thought tune up cotto margarito
Trying and doing are two different things. They might just decide to blow off the Dec fight and wait for Canelo in May. That would mean 2 fights per year for the last two and next year would probably be the same.
What is sad is the challenger telling the champion when he'll fight! GGG should defend his title then tell little golden pee boy when he can get his second chance, if not GGG tells him to walk, it's not like Canelo would fight Jacobs or Lemieux, more like Kell Brook , Cotto, or Margarito
Takes care of his health/recuperates, leaves his fans longing for more and still makes plenty of money. I don't see why he would do it any other way. No need to get punch-drunk trying to impress people on the internet, who never entered the ring themselves (at least not at that level).
Sure, he could do that. But I think he would much prefer to get his hands on that rematch money, rather than make some statement like that.
You're twisted. Im fairly certain Oscar established the May and Sept dates as boxing dates, when he retired Mayweather picked the torch, and when May retired Saul picked it up. Not everything has to be a hissy fit in boxing young lad.
Would be nice if he threw in a Jan/Feb tune-up a year in addition to two superfight dates. Oh well, obviously we know two fights a year is just how often boxing superstars fight. And knowing when he's fighting for the next six to eight years isn't a bad thing.
Checking out Oscar's record, he only established the May date in 2003 when he fought Campas. In his prime before then, when he was Canelo's age, he didn't fight on Cinco de Mayo weekend because he wasn't limiting himself to two fights a year. We should look at Canelo's schedule as not just as a 'superstar's schedule' but as an old superstar's schedule. When Oscar was Canelo's age he fought three times in 1999, then after Tito in September he returned in February 2000. It is what it is, I know. But it could be a bit better.
That's not how it works. You can't try to give him crap for fighting twice a year when he's trying to line up a third.
