When people say he was green for the Floyd fight they are trolling right? If not, 1. How is 43 fights Green? 2. How is he now no longer green if he is only 3 fights removed from that fight? Also the whole weight drained thing is a troll also right? I mean how is 2 pounds weight drained?
He naively thought he could outbox Floyd, he learned from that in the Lara match which is why he was practically running him down for the entire second half of it. He realized he had to put the pressure on a runner. Regardless Cotto isn't close to being on Money's level skillwise, and isn't hard to hit.
Let's not forget that Cotto gave Floyd the business more than any other fighter up until Maidana 1. He boxed for as long as he could with Floyd and was successful. I can see him boxing the freckles off of Canelo.
He was only green after getting schooled. I like Canelo a lot and hope he wins on Saturday but Mayweather was something else and no Canelo beats Floyd.
How did he do that? He pressured him and was up in Floyd's grill until he gassed just like Maidana, it wasn't because he was outboxing Floyd. Even early in the match when Cotto stood in the middle of the ring with Mayweather he was completely outclassed. Which is why Cotto had to use the strategy he used, and it would have serve Canelo well to do the same thing. Its the only thing that works with Mayweather.
I wouldn't call him green but he definitely wasn't experienced vs elite comp. he beat last prime Mosely and Cintron who he had size on and beat Trout who at the time was seen as his best win and elite though most now would say in hind sight he isn't Canelo was definitely inexperienced at the highest level. That said there really wasn't anyone around who he could have fought who could have prepared him for Floyd. Maybe Ishe Smitj given style Even so Floyd of the Berto fight probably one sided decisions Kirkland Canelo
I don't think he was green, but he didn't have many amature bouts and he turned pro at such a young age (15)... I guess
I never said that's what you said, I'm was asking cause I thought you were explaining the logic of the people who do say it.
I agree with that statement although of you going to mention Ishe Smith you should bring up that he beat the breaks off Boldamir and Lopez. Also why everyone hating on Trout lol, dudes only loses are to Canelo and Lara 😂.
I wouldn't say he was green, he had too many fights for that. He did look badly weight drained. He also put too much weight back on - made him sluggish. He also fought a terrible game plan trying to box Mayweather. Anyway I always thought Canelo was overrated. The boxer from the show the contender was giving him issues. He's at least fighting to his strengths now. This should be good fight.
1. Sauce for that weight 2. If you that big maybe you should be fighting at 160 and not a 147 pounder huh? 3. It's not huge I have had to make bigger last min cuts for fights and why it did hurt me 2 pounds it by no means weight drained especially if you know in advance.
