Rigoberto Alvarez (25-2, 19KOs), the 32-year-old brother of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, has reached a deal to fight Japan's Nobuhiro Ishida (22-5-2, 7KOs), the current WBA interim-junior middleweight champion on October 9 in Japan. Eddy Reynoso of Canelo Promotions went to Japan and came to a deal with Ishida's manager, Hideo Kanazawa. :deal
Oh right, this is the "regular" WBA title. Why the **** have they made Cotto a super champion? Because he is high profile? The WBA are pathetic.
yea, that's probably the best way to explain it. Mosley was the WBA's super champion when they typically reasoned that if you're a unified champ, you'd be their super champ. He only had their belt though, it's all an attempt to make more money from fees.
never actually seen Rigoberto fight, but hes beens topped by Rubio and out-pointed by a 25-14 fighter only a year ago, and even though this fight is taking place in Mexico (not sure why... Ishida is the belt-holder traveling to face a rather unknown opponent) I still think Ishida will win a wide decision
