Firstly, I have to admit that I have a great respect for Saul Canelo Alvarez as a boxer. But, I can not tell the same for people around him, his team. I will mention very strange scores, at least twice. So, corrupted judges are great danger for boxing, greedy promoters too. What about a possibility of Canelo's defeat by decision ? Honestly, I doubt it. This thread has nothing with GGG or another Canelo's opponent, and I would like to read your opinions without hatred.
In most of his 'big' fights there has been a really wayward card, no matter how you score it. Floyd - 114-114 Lara - 117-111 Trout - 118-109 Cotto (my favourite one) - 119-109 And of course he was ahead on all cards (I think...) during the Khan KO. Why that is, I don't know. But it isn't right. Mexico's very own Felix Sturm
Well I never thought I'd see Klitschko lose on points until Fury but I guess Fury left the judges with no choice,so far we had Mayweather a draw with one judge,Khan not winning a round despite every boxing pundit there agreeing he won five rounds and then we had Lara and Trout but they were close. There's no doubt Canelos fights are corrupt as hell.
After seeing the Canelo-Khan scorecards where he clearly lost 4 out of the first 5 rounds and was still ahead on points, I don't think anyone can outpoint him merely by outlanding him. You'd need to knock him down multiple times as well to win a decision, even then he can win the fight with an SD/MD by being slightly competitive in 4-5 rounds. Think of it like Sturm vs Chudinov.
Yes and its on everyone's mind. Canelo corruption runs deep, and ODH power over judges is considerable. If he can get a draw against a billion dollar man (May) that always had judges on his side, imagine what the scores would be against a relatively unknown Smith. Beefy will need to knock ginger out to get a draw.
Klitshcko example doesn't apply because Wlad never ever had a questionable decision or needed the help of the judges. All his wins were complete shutouts or KO'S and none of his wins were ever disputed. I don't think the thought of bribing the judges even crossed his mind.
While I agree there was 1 off card in a few of thoses fights ultimately the right person won each bout, personally I feel like at some point in time if you fight enough elite fighters close fights are going to happen history has shown as much there is no great fighter you can name that doesn't have at least 1 win people debate over. As for beating him everybody can lose a fight whether its by robbery or legitimately it just so happens that outside of Lara who IMO at best lost 7-5 none of those guys have an argument for winning. Alvarez up 3-2 on Khan or 9-3 Cotto is closer to reality than 5-0 Khan or a Cotto win.
There clearly seems to be something dodgy going on with regard to Canelo's scorecards. I completely agree with what Teddy Atlas says in that vid above.
The lobby, they are killing boxing, slowly but surely, killing softly. The boxing is almost dead in my country and region. Only UK, Russia and Ukraina are still boxing-friendly countries.
