Rather unbelievable. I remember a few years back I was impressed with Canelo. Only way I see this fight going for Floyd is a hard win or loss. There will be no easy night. He has to weather the first few rounds and get Canelo a little gassed, otherwise it could be a short night for Floyd.

Canelo's defense is going to be very solid in this fight, IMO. 10 oz gloves are Floyd's kryptonite.

 

His defense is good, but he's going to have to really be on his game to neutralize that lead right Floyd throws so well. Good's not going to be enough- Canelo's got to reach another level.

His Mexican bloodline probably won't let him do this even if he had the defense to accomplish it, but given how he likes to counter, Alvarez may actually have a better chance at winning by making the smaller Floyd take the initiative offensively. Common sense would dictate that pressure is how to get to Floyd, but Floyd's seen too much pressure in his day for that to work. Alvarez's best chance is to make Floyd do something he hasn't ever had to- initiate the action against a larger man with countering ability. It would also protect his own questionable stamina.

Bottom line is Floyd's still a huge favorite in my book regardless of how Alvarez fights, but Saul has to do what he can to make Floyd fight out of his comfort zone. Pressure may only work for the first round or two until Floyd figures it out.

 

Good defense won't beat Floyd. It'll just give him a longer amount of time to pick his shots. What beats Floyd is a master jab and pressure. Only way to stop a master boxer.

 

We'll see. No matter what anyone wants to believe, Floyd is no where near his physical prime and he has slowed down over the last several years. Canelo is explosive and a young, big, strong JMW/MW. You have to look at all of the previous ATGs who climbed multiple divisions and see what most had in common that Floyd doesn't...KO power. Very hard to go against opponents that much bigger than you without having some power to keep them honest.

 

canelo has good defense and head movement.the thing when facing floyd is you're better off having your gloves in proper position than slipping because he telegraphs very few punches.

 

Dude Canelo is not a great fighter floyd is on another level.

Someone once posted a piece on the "drowning" technique, where you cut off the ring slowly, but make your opponent miss with movement and don't make yourself available for counters. I think that's something Canelo will be working on, his upper body movement is better than most if not all of Floyd's last opponents.

 

Canelo is not mike tyson or roberto duran with the head movement.

Canelo dos not know how to pace himself he throws everything into his punches and he reaches at times Floyd is going to be countering him all night.

Canelo will do things keep coming and get knocked out or he will do this Woah i dont wan to get countered anymore his punch output will drop and he will lose a land slide UD and he will bleed in this fight
