This guy is without a doubt the next golden boy. He is only 22 and probably the #2 attraction in the sport. Add to that he doesn't really have any big challenges on the horizon, and the Canelo brand will continue to grow.

He is a god in Mexico it seems. It's good to see this kind of superstardom in boxing.

I was glad the Trout fight turned out entertaining as there were so many people there. Would've felt bad for a million Mexicans to turn up to a stinker.

In the words of Larry Merchant.

"Hes a Star now but he has a chance to be a SuperNova."

I'm not saying Canelo doesn't deserve a certain amount of attention but the overwhelming portion of it is what I have a problem with. Suddenly we aren't hearing about Juan Manuel Marquez anymore. Sorry, but since when did Trout become better than Manny Pacquiao in terms of legacy and celebrity power? Hell, you can even make the argument that Trout won a close decision over Canelo.

Both Canelo and JMM should be stars in Mexico but it is clear to me they are giving the throne to the wrong guy. Knocking out a monster like Pac should instantly make you the biggest boxing superstar in Mexico

JMM had his months in the sun after the Pac fight. He is about to turn 40, so it makes sense that Canelo is getting the attention now.

Without a doubt. This is what makes sport so intriguing. The revolving door is inevitable. The torch will be passed to this kid as the biggest draw in boxing. Good to see fans embrace their guy.

    Everybody knows that Marquez cheated.

I mean, you got a guy that drinks his own ****, eats his own ****, and sticks cups up his ass for an advantage.

Everyone knows that without the PEDs, Marquez is just a 39 year old man that absorbed numerous beatings in his career.

He is done. He's been done since Kastidis.

He said Mexican. Anyway, not many people of any race or ethnic group could beat those guys in their prime.
