1. Ward--This is probably the option Canelo would like most, but I don't think Ward wants to do it. 2. Callum Smith--Makes sense because it would be a huge fight and Canelo is acclimated to the weight. The downside is that the risk of losing is real for Canelo and Smith hasn't really hit peak popularity yet. I see Canelo's team letting this "marinate" for awhile, but it could end up being one of the biggest fights of this generation. 3. Jacobs rematch at 168--Makes a lot of sense and lets Canelo acclimate to 168. Kind of a risky fight for Canelo. 4. Andrade--Been an option for a long time. Andrade is ready to go as soon as he gets the call. 5. GGG--Still very possible because casuals would tune in and Canelo would be heavily favored 5. Saunders--Won't happen. BJ Sinus has zero rep in the US at this time. 6. Charlo--Big fight and would secure Canelo's status with WBC at 160 for the next couple of years. Possible rival promoter issue. 7. Beterbiev/Bivol--If Canelo personally wants to chase greatness, he could fight either guy although neither is very well known at this point. 8. Benavidez/Zurdo--Both need to build their rep more. 9. Badou--Easy work and name 175 opponent.
35+ years old past prime fighters or noname paper champions. He will probably take on a latter type next time.
Maybe a nice little stay busy fight while ge figures out how to continue making history and carving a legacy of a potential ATG.
What about fighting GGG at LHW? Genius move, he doesnt need to cut weight and GGG gets a opportunity to get belt in higher weight division and silence his critics, lol.
Love him or hate him, we're in for some fun Canelo fights the upcoming years and that's all I care for. I'd not necessarily go 2 divisions straight down tho. Think Roy.
Canelo has only fought two 35+ fighters since the Cotto fight, and they were both Champs and considered at least near the top of their divisions. You're simply a shameless whiny hater.
I suggest you stop watching boxing. Canelo has the best resume of any prime champion right now. I don't think this sport is for you if that's your opinion.
His next fight will probably be for Cinco de Mayo though. I don't think a scrub would be acceptable for that date.
Not a scrub. Maybe a name fighter like Lemieux just for s**** and giggles or the GGG fight if it is lucrative enough to make.
And in reality he lost to one of them. But hey, he could clearly beat that Kovalev who got almost stopped by Yarde, a British level LHW.
You know what? It should be Jack. Jack should beat Pascal for whatever belt and then there’s a totally winnable bs unification fight lined up. Jack—Pascal is almost finalized for Dec.
Then go to that reality that doesn’t include us, pull the covers over your face, and cry yourself to sleep.
Are we sure that Jacobs is better than Andrade and Charlo? Because if he is not better than them, then he is barely a top 5 MW which I wouldn't call "top".
