I never claimed to be a business adviser nor do I focus on that aspect of the sport because that is where corruption of the sport lies and that is how many great fights get prevented from happening.

He sure sports that belt around his shoulder with pride though and calls himself the champ, if he didn't care about the belt he should of gave it up or not even fought for it when creating this 155 Canelo weight.

I don't care if he gets KOd by GGG, i would respect him for stepping up and fighting his Mando instead of ducking and creating excuses.

I know, because he didn't want people to see the advantage he had in weight against Cotto... and for people to realize he is just as big if not bigger than GGG. Ya dig it? :good

:patsch Pay attention.. the 155 "CATCH WEIGHT" nonsense is off the table !!!

:rofl Latest from the WBC... Canelo either meets GGG for the MANDATORY... or surrenders the belt.

:p If Canelo chooses to fight... over ruling O$CAR... it likely goes to a "PURSE BID".

 From this time forward... GGG's in the driver's seat, Canelo's just along for the ride.

    ;)

Catchweights should only be used to even the playing field for undersized fighters to make fights vs larger fighters to minimalize the size advantages.

Khan v Canelo was perfect use of such CW. Khan fights around 160/165 and Canelo around 175/180. Canelo weighing in at 155 allowed Khan to drain a little less soas he would have more fluid movement utilizing his natural attributes. Fair fight if not for Khans ridiculously soft chin.

Floyd, Manny, Brook or Timmy vs GGG would be most fair at 154, slowing GGG down, while allowing the WWs more opportunity to score shots vs a slowed Golovkin.

However, in the case of Canelo v Golovkin, there is no real size disadvantage for either.
Canelo simply has the youth to take of 15-20lbs in 3-4 days without slowing him noticeably, at least in his promoters/mgmts eyes.

Canelo and GGG likely walk around at or near an identical weight and neither have a significant height or reach advantage.

There is however a HUGE gap in skills, power, defense, speed, footwork and chin favoring Golovkin.

I suppose some sacrifice will have to be made in order to limit those advantages to make this fight at least competitive for a while.

IMO, 157 is fair to both combatants, and I hope history proves me right and the true and legitimate MW Champion can attain his glory through this fight. Whichever it may be. :think

So this. The only thing I would add is you gladly mentioned Canelo never fought at 160 lbs....but you never mentioned that GGG never fought at 155 lbs.

But 160 is a real and official weight limit... 155 is not.

If the catchweight was 150 then yes it would of been goo use. Khan went up 1 whole weight division+1 pound. Canelo's window is running out. He cant do this weight drain when he is 30 without it hurting him.

I agree, which is why I can only presume that K2 will publicly counter the offer with a 157-158 offer depending on purse-split.

I think GGG made enough $$$ off last night's fight, and know's that even if he has to take a considerably smaller slice of pie, the step-aside fees, and HBO interests will see him retire quite comfortably after this fight.

I could see him conceding to 20% for 158, 35% for 157, but Im honestly afraid if he gets greedy and goes for 50/50 at 155, it might be to his detriment, allowing Canelo to survive the fight and get a gift.:shock::shock:

Only biased Mexicans will support this duck. Canelo can only win if he has that massive weight advantage.
