Atleast he's a contender who's earned his shot. This is one of the guys along with Angulo that should've fought for the vacant title. Rhodes is the first real live opponent for Alvarez at 154. Good to see he's moved on from dragging up smaller opponents. Should be interesting
I forgot he fought Shane's cousin. To go with Cotto and Ricky Hatton's bros. Golden Boy loves those names. Hopkins' nephew is lucky he lost his last fight. I wouldn't be surprised if he missed the weight because he was bulking up for Canelo lol
After watching canelo for about the 10th time you should expect nothing more. Hes not ready for anybody in the top 10. I just dont understand the need to give him a belt so fast. He can only fight so many bums in a row before your educated fan gets bored with his fights. (most already have) De la hoya put ortiz in way over his head and fukced his career, he wont make the same mistake with canelo. Canelo's skill is light years below ortiz.
No one's calling Rhodes a bum. atsch The way Golden Boy hype this kid, they're gonna have to start putting him in with bigger names. He's 36-0, how much more experience does he need? How much more can he learn? Bring on the big fights I say.
for anyone who doesnt know who rhodes is- he is a good boxer with power in both hands he is about 5 feet9/10 in height, he fights with his hand relatively low(comes from same gym as Naseem hamed) and is a switch hitter-and is undefeated in Light middleweight. was a good prospect labelled as a future champ but lost his way but came down to JR MW and is on a decent run, euro champ, beat jamie moore in a fight of the year contender. Rhodes is currently top 5 JR MW for me, But he is getting old so Alvarez by close decision(115-113) although cards will be something like 119-109
Yep, which I think was a huge mistake, but I think GBP will bring up this kid alot better than Ortiz and protect him more even with the belt. Just a hunch.
