Boxrec lists Canelo as the P4P #1 fighter in the world. Ring lists him at #7. Now after Canelo gave up his belt to avoid a challenge, what's his new P4P status?

Ring P4P is pretty much meaningless when they list Golden Boy fighters. But do you think boxrec should remove Canelo from #1? Does it make sense he still ranks higher than a guy he practically admitted he's scared of when he handed his belt to him?

    What do you think?

He still has a more proven record than most, so no, just because a fight wasn't able to be made you can't lower his ranking.

Should we lower GGGs for not fighting ward or refusing to meet Canelo who has never fought at 160 at a CW between 155-159? No, this thread is dumb.

Golovkin and Ward were never in the same division, Golovkin never held a title in a division Ward fought and most importantly he never refused to fight Ward in a fight he was supposed to fight. If you don't understand the difference in these 2 completely different situations, can't help you.

He was the world middleweight champ. Look up middleweight limits.

He was WBC titlist who won the belt at a CW from a fighter who won it and defended the belt at a CW.

Yes and he could be at whatever weight he wants between 154 to 160, he just couldn't ask Golovkin to be at less than 160. This is basic stuff dude. Anyway, you made your point. Thanks.

So now that Canelo doesn't have the title will he have an excuse why he can't agree to a fight at 157 for a career high payday?

You have a thread about it. This is a P4P discussion.

If this post isn't a clear cut case of bias I don't know what is.

As someone else said, he had no business there to begin with.

How is he supposed to be #1 P4P when he's not even top 3 in either MW or LMW? :huh

Since he handed over the belt to someone who deserves it, he shouldn't have a problem with handing over the #1 P4P spot to someone who deserves it.

    :p Isal QUIT WHINING !!!

:rofl Canelo surrendered the belt, along with his reputation, and credibility.

 There is no reason GGG/K2 will offer GBP/Canelo a match. Canelo's now history, no one will sign to fight him @ Canelo weight. Getting fans to buy PPV after the disgraceful way he & O$CAR tried to manipulate the MANDATORY BOUT, and then throwing in the belt was embarrassing.

 In fact, I think GGG/K2 will allow GBP/Canelo to dry up & die, twisting slowly in the wind.
