Alotta people keep saying Camelos best chance is to overwhelm floyd with his power and knock him out like Canelos power is just devastating and its not. Shane took some good shots from Canelo and not once was he stunned or badly hurt from canelos "Power." Even Shane was quoted saying Floyd and Canelos power is about the same.Austin Trout took some solid shots from Canelo and even though he was knocked down he still wasnt badly hurt by canelos "power" because he came back pretty solid in that round and boxed pretty well. Canelo lands some pretty big thudding shots, bet im just not seein the one punch KO power that alot of Canelo fans are claming to see in him. I think Canelos best chance is to keep the fight pretty even up until the 5th or 6th round that way floyd cant just sit back and coast the rest of the way and get comfortable, he has to make floyd know that the fight is close and he cant just relax on cruise control like most of his fights. Canelo is a good fighter, i like his head movement and he got a good snap to his jab, but i dont see him causing floyd major problems.
Somewhat agree. I tend to think cotto is heavier handed than canelo yet he wasn't able to knockdown trout like canelo did.Not the best way to gauge power but that's the closest comparison I can make.
i been lurkin this site for weeks and readin alot of the threads and didnt see one discussin this...i see threads and comments about canelos "power" though...i just dont see it
Haven't seen many people compare Canelo to Julian Jackson. Even those who say his best chance is a ko seem to think that would come from a relentless attack where his size and a volume of punches could wear Floyd down. No-one is saying he'll score a one-punch ko and no-one is acting like he's some devastating puncher. Still, this being ESB, every fighter has to be overrated or exposed or a glass-jawed fraud.
i think that canelo caught trout at the right time right on the button...the shot marquez landed on pac didnt look like a knockout shot to me but he caught him on the button, it wasnt the power but the placement in my opinion... i dont think canelo will fight a better fight against floyd then cotto because canelo hasnt shown the stamina to put up cottos work rate and attack floyd......other than size and puttin together combos...canelo is similar to floyd because he sits back and waits for the perfect time to throw a shot like floyd does...and he aint better at that game that money is....i like canelo as a fighter, i just dont see nothin spectacular and havent seen him beat no one up in spectacular fashion. People bankin on floyd to get "old"...if his last fight and the way he moved is any indication of his age, people are way off...he looked pretty damn sharp like a 26 year old not 36
regardless if its one punch knock out power or a bunch of shots combined..i still dont see it. read the comments on youtube vids and other articles, all people talkin bout is canelos power and him knockin floyd out. he landed plenty of shots on trout and shane and they were never stunned or badly hurt from his so called power. i never said canelo was over rated as a fighter, cause he got skills, but that power people keep talkin bout is a lil over rated TO ME.
obviously not enough to keep him from coming back and outboxing canelo the rest of the round perfectly fine...he wasnt wobbly..his legs werent gon..the knockdown didnt affect him enough to where he couldnt perform the rest of the round better than canelo...
He never hurt Shane? He smashed Shane with an awesome body shot and visibly hurt him. I think that was in the sixth round.
Canelo packs a heavy punch . Yet He's far from a knockout artist and to be honest I have not heard 1 person say "Canelo has 1 punch KO power" What i think it is , is that you continue to hear people on here sayin Canelo has the potential to stop floyd and perhaps you don't like that too much .
Canelo Vs Lopez Maidana Vs Lopez Watch them fights. Pretty simuler. Maidana got hurt/buzzed by bodyshots. Canelo got hurt/buzzed by left hooks. Both went on to KO Lopez in the mid rounds. Maidana is one of the hardest hitters at 147 while Canelo is an okay hitter at 154. Maybe slightly harder than 154 Cotto... But nothing amazing. Canelo loses his steam around the 7th round and lots of other things go with it.. including head movement...
