When he inevitably hands his belt over later this year, he can rule out competing for another for a long time, let alone winning one.
No chance Billy Joe will drain to 155, and he'll be giving his title to GGG once he's milked it for a bit.

Can't make 154? Sorry bruh, that makes you a middleweight, nothing for you elsewhere. Fight at 160 but not your mandatory? Might as well tattoo "I'm GGG's *****" on your forehead.

This Mexican warrior will be sitting it out, no champion status, trapped in his own imaginary division, waiting for another man to retire. It will become increasingly clear for all to see. He will no longer be the great hope of his country, but an embarrassing blight.

Initially he will be able to get a name or 2 in with him. But with nothing on the line and his stock falling FAST, that won't last. Simple being Mexican is NOT enough.

In 2-3 years Saul Alvarez will be nothing more than an average top 10 MW. Other talents will have prospered while he's been sinking. He'll be on his knees, begging and scorning his foolish pride. Golovkin will tell him to **** off.

    Bet on it.

Feel free to bump this in 2019 and claim your my alt or something.

C'mon Canelo does't need GGG he got more options between welters and super welters, with the money he generates he got people line up to face him, he will never face GGG at 160 lbs.

My point is that he won't be generating that money for much longer. I thought that was clear.

Nobody who is openly scared of the best in their division will remain a star, or the 'A side', for long.

I don't give a **** if he fights GGG, but it's all downhill from there. Depending how the current prospects develop, I wouldn't be surprised if he never wins a title again. Try selling that on PPV.

Considering the last Cash Cow was accused of ducking and cherry picking almost daily yet still managed to be the highest grossing fighter, I think Alvarez will be ok it will all come down to how well the Khan fight does.

Welter and Jr Middle are both deeper than Middle weight and Canelo has never officially weighed in over 155 which is basically Jr middle as long as he's fighting intriguing matches he'll be fine.

He would better off fighting GGG and losing then holding on to the belt while refusing to defend it at the limit.

Who are you fooling? He'll be a draw and star until he retires.

Oscar's Golden egg will be fine even if a younger more talented Mexican fighter comes up the rankings to become a bigger PPV attraction

Canelo can fight without a belt for the rest of his career and no one would care.
Hell, Canelo can get KTFO by Golovkin and he would still be a star.
    Mayweather - 2.2m PPV
    Angulo - 350k PPV
    Lara - 300k PPV
    Kirkland - 2.1m Regular HBO
    Cotto - 900k PPV

Hes been a cash cow since 2013 and he will be one for decades to come.

He's not handing his belt over. It's a WBC belt. He can keep it for as long as he likes w/o fulfilling any obligations whatsoever.

When JCC jr. starts selling PPV's again then I'll believe the Mexican fans are a dumb as you make them seem.

In 2-3 years GGG will be nowhere
He will still be trying to unify the division but he wont get to Jacobs or Saunders because they will be busy with their own fights

When Floyd really began being... selective, he'd been consensus P4P 1-2 for like a decade. There’s no comparison. Canelo believes he's earned the right to that level of control. He'll find he's **** out of luck.
