Canelo has no chance if he sticks to the 'chop-down-the-tree' plodding style he has adopted; whilst it was effective against Smith, Saunders & Plant, none of those guys were elite like Bivol.

Canelo would have to go back to the drawing board and get back to boxing smarts, and look at timing and counter-punching, rather than throwing every punch with full power - that just caused him to gas, and once Bivol realised he could handle the power, he used it to his advantage by letting Canelo waste his energy by delivering full force punches on his guard and shoulders mostly. Then Bivol would open up with solid jabs and combos making Canelo lose nearly every exchange.

However, I think Canelo should stay at 168 - even if he does go back to the drawing board, I can't see any route to victory; breaking Bivol down to the body was the only thing I was concerned about before the fight, and Bivol shut that down with great distance management and ring IQ.

These Canelo detractors get so emotionally invested in their scoring delusions.

Canelo would have to change his style from throwing bombs all night. He did land some good ones on Bivol and was able to take Bivol’s best for 12 rounds.

Less power punching, more jabbing, more boxing. I think he can do better, not sure about winning.

Not good. He can't hurt Bivol, Bivol took his best shots and they didn't even seem to register at all, it's like Bivol hadn't even been hit.

He also can't out box Bivol, he had no answer for the jab and Bivol would often just push him back with a lead hand, forcing Canelo to reset his feet after being pushed back. Canelo fights squared up and so he's easy to push back, he'd need to either to abandon the high guard and slip the jab coming in or learn to fight from a more bladed stance. Suffice to say stylistically he's at a big disadvantage and his power can't bail him out this time.

Why would you bribe judges to make it close but still lose on the cards. Canelo it seems is going to get all close rounds.

I don't think his chances are that bad. like the AJ v Usyk rematch I think he only needs to make it closer in order to get the nod.
The issue as I've mentioned already several times is the fact Canelo looks like the Hulk. it means that his tendancy to fight iin short spurts and throw bonbs gets exagerrated and against Bivol who was mobile on his feet he just was getting heavily outlanded. he clearly didn't have enough power to wobble Bivol once. So unless he goes full Lance Armstrong on the gear and trains for speed then it will be a difficult night for him.
The fact is the judges did there best to shaft Bivol so if Canelo goes from winning 1-2 rounds to 3-4 then I will anticipate the robbery ala GGG fights.

Canelo won a maximum of 3 rounds and he got losing scores of 115-113.

He just has to win 4 or 5 rounds and the judges will give him winning scores of 115-113.
