I think the Plant win is a very good one. He may not top 3, but he's top 5.

What everyone wants to see is Canelo take on Benevidez. Then we'll know how good he really is at 168.

Taking on the likes of Ryder & Munguia does nothing for him.

Canelo's run was fine. Him getting David's vacant belt + refusing to fight a resurgent David is the only blemish I can throw at Canelo

    THAT
    BEING
    SAID

Canelo's run out of cards to play. No more (notable) 160 champs to batter @168. No more (notable) 154 champs to batter @168. No more easy-touches @168 (Ryder isn't a BUM, but neither is he a world-class killer). Locked out of 175 for the time being...

Canelo, in 2024, has to face a young dog like Davido, Morrell or Mbilli. Either that or Crawford, which could go spectacularly wrong for him. No one wants to see JermAll or Adames, and I think Canelo's fans would trash those types of fights

After being completely dominated by Canelo, Smith went up a weight class and scored a couple of quick KO's to established himself as the top guy behind Bivol and Beterbiev. And while Beterbiev stopped Smith, he also shipped some good punches. Canelo was hardly touched by him.

Plant was iced by Canelo but went the distance with what's supposed to be the bogey man of the division,

I fail to see how that is "ageing like milk". No one, absolutely no one, was saying these were ever great fighters.

If Canelo is willing to fight Trout, Lara, Jacobs and Bivol; then I am sure he would not have much of an issue fighting anyone else.

It´s "reported" that Canelo did 700k vs Jermell. And the live gate was huge as well. It´s absolutely possible that Jermall is next as Canelo is a businessman and would rather fight Benavidez on Mexican independence day. And they will be happy with taking a lower risk for an estimated 700k PPV buys.
It´s also possible that Canelo ends up fighting Crawford in September because it would be a bigger fight.

Benavidez is the only real fight out there for him now, and if he doesn't make it this year it will be a big disappointment.

Mungia could be interesting if he does a number on Ryder, but otherwise there's no other even slightly good match-up for him than Benavidez with Bivol and Beterbiev busy with each other.

If he takes on Crawford as a bonus after that, by all means, but Beterbiev needs to happens.

Smith probably got a gift v B- level Ryder & hasn't done squat at 175.. he didn't establish himself at LHW, who's he beat? LHW is pretty lackluster now outside of AB & Bivol anyway.. I'm not sold on the Gvozdyk comeback.. & it's certainly not what it was a few years ago.. who we got? Yarde? Smith Jr? LOL.. I'm not sure Smith beats either of them tbh.. dress it up all you want, no ones buying the Smith nonsense... he was coming off a years inactivity in the Canelo fight anyway & most people thought his previous fight was a gift decision.. That win was decent but nothing special. Smith looked star struck .. was a pathetic display.. & as for vanilla ice Plant.. why bother? You're onto a loser there.. his resume is worse than Jake Paul's

Fans have been screaming for Jermall fight for years, no backing out now. Once Canelo beats Jermall it will end any and all questions about who ducked who

I'm unsure exactly what you're on about. Try and use paragraphs for starters.

Smith came off two early KO's at 175 and was ranked behind Beterbiev and Bivol by The Ring before the fight. I'm unsure what "nonsense" you're rambling about. As I said, no one's ever claimed Smith was a great fighter.

If you posted this 2 years ago then maybe. JermAll had beaten Dev-chenko better than anyone else had done (at that point) and he was seen as an easier BUT more popular alternative to Bivol... in 2022

Now it's 2024, JermAll has been so inactive it's essentially a retirement, and has WELL-DOCUMENTED personal problems outside the ring

Oh, and Canelo just dropped and outclassed JermAll's brother, who is regarded as the better boxer

So, no mate, I don't really agree with this and I don't think it holds weight. I see FAR more people wanting Crawford for Canelo, if we're talking black boxing fans here, and I see FAR more boxing fans, of ALL colours, wanting Davido for Canelo

From a PR point of view, Canelo blasting out the brothers back to back would look 'good', but it seems to me Canelo is doing a Tyson Fury/Jon Jones of picking easy fights with just enough room to spin them. Canelo's resume is full of clever cherrypicks, but in fairness to the guy, he DOES entertain tough fights every so often. After GGGrandad, Ryder and JermEll, we need something like a Davido

I like Canelo. I even own some official Canelo **** I bought from his store. But the man has no where left to run let's be honest

Have said this for years. The only fighter worth mentioning there is Benavidiez.

Before last year, none of those guys that held belts when Canelo moved up had even fought each other.
