Canelo's stamina sucks. Cotto will dominate 2nd half.

I expect a very close fight, would not be surprised to see a draw and then a rematch in spring. Cotto will have the edge due to his experience in fights of this magnitude. Draw or Cotto by narrow / majority / split decision, not without controversy.

I think Alvarez's defense is underrated, he is very good at blocking and slipping punches. Cotto has a huge experience edge but I think bouts with Trout, Mayweather, & Lara will help Alvarez exponentially. Cotto won't be the best "Boxer" Alvarez has faced. Cotto's L.Hook has been lethal since hooking up with Roach, and his skills are proven. I think the biggest factors will be Canelo's speed and counter punching

 

Canelo doesn't have anything speedwise that Cotto hasn't seen before.

Zab/Pac/May/Shane(?) are all faster than Canelo. Plus Canelo doesn't have the pressure that breaks Cotto at times.

canelo has power as well. based on how lara and kirkland responded to his punches he might hit a little harder than cotto

He's been in with better and more varied competition, and has been in the game for longer.

 

I think Canelo is the better boxer of the two. Cotto has the better legs though and the quicker feet. Both guys have power. Edge to Canelo. I see Cotto tasting the canvas from a counter by Canelo. And after that happens he will be on his bike. Prior to that it will be a great chess match.

 

Question Cotto won't put any pressure Canelo will pick the pace so don't expect him to gas.

 

OP is confunding Cotto with his conqueror Margarito

Cotto has never had great stamina

He was gassing badly in the later rounds of the Margo rematch, that's why the referee had to come out and stop the fight to save him

He was gassing against Floyd in the later rounds and that's why even pillowfisted Floyd was able to put him on ***** street in the last round

He looked gassed during almost the entire match with Trout, and got schooled

etc, etc

Cotto's not a poster child when it comes to stamina

 

Cotto has been in more big fight's bouts with Mosley,Pacquiao, Mayweather, Martinez ect.. That's elite level experience in all the pressures that comes with a mega fight.

 

They both don't have the best stamina.
