Maybe Vitali just wants people to believe they will actually see him in a competitive fight again before he finally retires.

He's just trying to sell the event. I haven't seen anything in Adamek that suggests he can overcome a defensive, volume punching super heavyweight of Vitali's calibre. As much as I like Adamek.

 

It's obvious there is mutual respect going on in this fight.

That's because Vitali is smart enough to know what he's getting into. And he knew he'd better handle it because Lil Wlad would get did in the worst way!

Adamek has certain intagibles (ring IQ, battle tested, tough will to win) that make him a great fighter at whatever weight. If Adamek's chin withholds a few big punches from Vitali, watch out.

Yeah, bad thing about Vitali...he tends to use canned statements to make his opponent sound better than what they are and promote the fight. He repeats the same thing press conf after press conf.

Once the bell rings, none of it matters. Vitali goes into destroy mode and ruins opponents.

 

He's trying to sell a mismatch. As much as I like Adamek, and I know a lot of people on here like him, but he simply isn't an elite heavyweight. He's not a good fighter at the heavyweight division. If you look at his strengths, the ones which gave him a very impressive resume in the lower divisions, what were they? And does he have them now? I think it's clear he doesn't.

He has lost his granite chin, he's slower than he was, he doesn't have any power and he's fighting off the back foot all the time because he's not strong.

Everything about this fight leads me to think it's a mismatch and I hate to say that because I am a fan of Adamek and really don't like Vitali, but this is not a competitive fight.

 

Vitali has his businessman face on when he said that, and it was an attempt to make the fight anticipated and to sell more tickets and TV views. But after the PR lines are said, everyone, even Vitlai, knows it'll be a thrashing. Plain and simple.
