What Usyk has achieved so far is impressive but Cruiserweight is one of the weaker divisions in boxing, it’s nowhere near welterweight in terms of quality. Usyk hasn’t beaten anyone nearly as good as a Spence or a Porter, actually Porter beat him in the AMs for what it’s worth.
Double standards because Spence beat Porter about as convincingly as Usyk beat Briedis, but I don't see you claiming Usyk got "exposed". Instead you claim Usyk "dominated" everyone. Very transparent.
Let's break it down pal, Usyk has Gassiev, Briedis, Hunter, Bellew, Glowacki, Huck All but 2 prime. All the same size. Non with controversy. Canelo has GGG, Jacobs, Lara, Cotto, Mosley, Trout and Khan. Cotto, Mosley and GGG were all past prime, GGG was incredibly controversial. As were Lara and Trout. Jacobs is an excellent win, Khan was coming up 2 weights from a weight he was already small for. Usyk > Canelo
Boxing still has a heavy nationalist bias to it. It is not something that has ever affected my enjoyment of certain boxers. But many cannot enjoy a fighter or give them credit unless they are from the same country or the same race as them. It leads to many fighters not getting any credit in certain parts of the world with certain groups.
Usyk is the only guy to clearly separate himself from the rest of his division.. Nobody else has come close.. For that reason he should be P4P #1 until proven otherwise at Heavyweight.. Inoue is on that path but he needs to fight the #2 and 3 guys in his division
My man, no one will remember any of Usyk's opponents ten years from now, because they themselves are pretty overrated . Huck would be the best of the bunch, and he was in his prime 10 years ago, and was still.getting KOd by guys like SS cunningham. Tony Bellew will be remembered better as a movie star than he will ever be remembered as a fighter. Canelo has indeed faced some of his top opponents past their primes, but not nearly as badly as Marciano did, and Marciano's legacy is sage and secure in history. I would also submit to you that even Canelo's loss to Mayweather tops mostly all of Usyk's win.
Yes, Porter beat Usyk 14 years ago I believe. Auggie Sanchez beat Floyd twice I believe too. Nothing wrong with losing to the better (at that time) and more polished amateur opponent.
