Understood my man, my definition of swag differes from yours and its OK, I understand "swag" can be considered an ambigous term with multiple definitions. His PERSONALITY seems fabricated and if it is authentic it cries for originality. Hey to each his own my man, this has nothing to do with his obvious skills in the ring.
dumb comment. when u have people tuning in to SEE YOU LOSE and have more haters in the audience than u have fans, im pretty the "haters make u famous" quote is pretty damn accurate. dont kid yourself. Hate = more money and fame.
he turned off alot of people with his attitude, which caused alot of hate. the super fight with Oscar wouldnt have been as super with out Floyds arrogant attitude. everyone wanted to see him lose and they still do.
Fair enough and remember that there are qualities that endear fans towards specific fighters, whether it be race, style, ability, flashyness, class, etc that really shouldn't have to be explained or justified. It's ridiculous to criticize posters for cheering for fighters of their own race/nationality because 90% of posters here do. Similarly, people ask questions like "why do you like that racist, woman beater?" when there could be feelings of empathy or sympathy mixed with appreciation of the skill level. There are also those that love to see someone talk smack and then back it up. I remember in the mid-90's Terrell Owens used to talk **** all week and then I'd watch him catch a 50 yard touchdown pass in the first possession and just smile and shake my head. It's about entertainment and bringing in viewers and fans any way you can. People need to get off their high horse and not always jump to criticize others who don't see things their way. The "I'm a real boxing fan, you're not" is one of the lamest arguments used here.
Truth be told....MANY people wanted to see Ali lose...:yep He was HATED when he was fighting....it wasn't until he got sick did he become adored by "Americans"....if you know what I mean..
-The only people that wanted to see him lose that genuinely bought his PPVs that I had been around were *******s, even then I have a hard time believing they're broke asses are going to shell out 50/60 bucks for it. The only reason that happened was because that was Floyd's nemesis, so they'd watch and compare Pac vs Floyd in their fights. Broner doesn't have that angle at his advantage. -Floyd has a LOT of fans, don't kid yourself. Just look around here. Sure we get the odd disgruntled white dude bitching like Lance, but other than that Floyd has a monster fanbase.
That's because Oscar's fanbase/Hatton's > Floyd's at the time. so of course there will be more "haters" there because Floyd was less popular than them, Broner, again, doesn't have that luxury of fighting the "Good guys" with HUGE names like Hatton, Pac or Oscar did.
Yeah, any boxer has the right to copy whatever style works, and perhaps put their own twist to it. I can't fault him for the way he fights. But he is definitely a corney-ass dude to me. I don't hate him for it, though.
Well Broner is doing the right thing, and people are already taking notice, especially with threads like this.. All the emotional fans are shake their fist at him etc, which is exactly what he wants..
He is young and having fun . . . leave him alone. I think what you see as fabrication is him trying to hide a bit of insecurity.:bart
