It's hard to feel sorry for people like this. I understand a lot of fighters need downtime, but when you've got an actual fight scheduled there's zero excuse to turn up to the fight a sloppy mess, and in Kow's case he did it time and again. How fat was he in the two Helenius fights? Pretty damn fat. Maybe now that his career's coming to an end he'll put some effort into his conditioning; he did look markedly slimmer for the Demizeren fight to me. But like Arreola found, by this stage it's usually far too late in the day for it to matter. Should have used some of that discipline when he was actually in a position to benefit from it.

If it was his own choice then yeah he probably realised he'd get splattered. Ortiz was worse though, actually moaning about low-balling then taking a pay cut to fight Wilder. Still, it all works out to the same in the end: a missed opportunity.

I think Kownacki turned down the Aaj fight as he was likely advised whi was being lined up as another soft opponent for Wilder (untill Wilder made a cherry pick that went wrong).

Kownacki could of even got a decent payout against Chisora but turned that down to for Pulev to step in.
