Highlights from that bout. They both have strengths, they both have bad habits (which they are apparently comfortable with). Fighting magnificence. I have nothing to add, but enjoy...

It's weird, Petrolle was one of those fighters who I'd read quite a bit a bit about and was impressed with his record and reputation; clearly a great fighter but one I was a bit underwhelmed by on film when I actually sat down and watched him. I dunno. Same for Kid Berg. Canzi was just a natural fighter, a wizardy little atg monster.

Petrolle is a bit past his pull date here but he still has some excellent features. Good, stuff jab, excellent pursuing footwork, body punching and doesn't give up. He's got some cute defensive skills, too. He's just in with a master, but one he beat the last time around. Look closer.

Thanks Seamus. Canzoneri was a technical master with his feet and feints, and amazing aesthetically. Absolute control of distance and rhythm at his best, though that chin is in a vulnerable position at the best of times. shows how good he was that he was never stopped at his peak.

Just rewatched this one by chance. Seems like a great bout throughout (extended highlights unfortunately), but I don't think either man looked his best despite the action and trickery.

Everything that can be said about Canzoneri has already been said. Petrolle to me looks like a solid 'workman' like fighter. Fundamental crouch, with a very strong jab and some sneaky, sharp body work. Looks very strong for his weight (apparent weight troubles here) and constantly brings it to canzoneri and gets to his body, though he gets lasered with some sharp sharp counters in return. No wonder he was such a handful.

Historic footage for the Lightweight division.

Petrolle had a blanket he wore to every fight and he never ever washed it. I just bought a picture of Billy that was done at a photographer s place and started falling apart when I opened it. I got it under glass fast enough to preserve it thankfully and hung it. Would pay serious money for entire Petrolle-Battalino fight. Great stuff Seamus. Thx again.
