It's always easy to tell in forum debates when one side has conceded defeat - they repeatedly post silly pictures when they have nothing else to offer.

'I reckon Bolling will bash him'

    Yeah sure Ash :happy

'Run down and tell him to throw more punches'

    Yeah sure Ash :happy

'Mundine will win a world title in 2011'

    Yeah sure Ash :happy

    'I haven't posted in a pro-Mundine thread for 6 months'

    Yeah sure Ash :happy

(that's your cue to post another silly picture now Ash)

As predicted - another silly picture - in fact the same picture you've posted NINE TIMES so far - and it wasn't even funny the first time!

That's your cue to post YET another silly picture Ash - perhaps a different one this time.

....or will you prove beyond doubt you are totally brain-dead and post the same picture for the tenth time?

    Contendo,

Was pre-occupied laughing at our friend fanboy-Ash and forgot to respond to your post above.

I too was surprised by the discepancies on the judge's cards.

Spoke to a friend this morning who went to see the bout. He said:

'couldn't believe how that shiela scored the fight so close'

    and went on to say:

    'Caparello clearly won every round'.

...thank goodness these days there's 3 judges!

    Hey CHB,

I mean it's a fair question isn't it? You see scoring like that and scratch your head? :huh

I watched the fight last night on replay and whilst I didn't score the fight, just watching it on face value, I certainly wouldn't have scored too many rounds for Bolling plus the knockdown in Caparello's favour. Where judge Samantha Bulner got her card, I'll never know! :nut

However, respect the fact that Caparello's hard to watch due to style so apart from the knockdown, he doesn't give you the 'pure dominance' look to each round, but no way did Bolling go close to winning the fight.

Anyway, what's done is done and life goes on for both boys.

We all know that judges can only view a fight from their own vantage point, but some of the descepancies are quite alarming! Not just here, but everywhere else in the world as well.

Blake Caparello Defeats Michael Bolling in Winner Takes All Bout!

by Srithar Visuasam - East Side Boxing - 7th March 2011

In Melbourne, Australia on Friday night, Blake Caparello (6-0-1, 2 KOs) kept his undefeated record intact by defeating Michael Bolling (12-2, 10 KOs) via unanimous decision over 8 rounds in a high stakes light heavyweight bout. The bout was a ‘winner takes all’ contest and in defeating Bolling, Caparello took the $10,000 prize which went to the victor.

The fight started for Caparello in perfect fashion, knocking Bolling down late in the first round with a left hook. From round two onward, Bolling took the fight to the Victorian in forcing the pace and trying to cut the ring off and land his combinations. Despite being moderately successful in this approach, Bolling was unable to reciprocate Caparello’s earlier knockdown, which ultimately proved decisive in the outcome.

With the bout going to the scorecards, the winner of the grand prize was to be determined by the judge’s ringside.

The win further solidifies Caparello as one of the premier light heavyweights in Australia.

The semi main event was also fought over eight rounds which saw Victor Chernous (12-1, 4 KOs) outwork Steve Heremia (16-6-1, 7 KOs) in what proved quite an evenly matched fight. Chernous’ punch accuracy proved the difference between the two fighters who left it all on the line. The scorecards read 79-74, 79-77 in favour of Chernous with the other scorecard reading a 77-77 draw, Chernous the winner via majority decision.

In other fights, Michael Kirby (8-3-1, 5 KOs), Pat Rullo (12-2-1, 1 KO), Bronwyn Wylie (3-1) and Sarah Howett (2-1, 1 KO) all emerged as winners, while Medoro (0-2-1) and Brent Elliot (4-2-3, 1 KO) fought to a split draw.

So am I reading this right - Srithar Visuasam of ESB, as well as one of the judges had the fight fundamentally even bar the extra point deduction for the knockdown?

I must have been watching a different fight then! :nut

    Strange days indeed!

My mate was there and reckoned Caparello won every round.
