finally a tv show in scotland that is really showcasing scottish fighters and the biggest surprise is that it is on boxnation !! Great to finally have big card in scotland and more importantly over here in the east, we have had so much talented fighters and they never seem to get shows here anyway here is my breakdown of how i see the fights that have been confirmed for 'capital collision' cornish vs sexton: don't think i'm alone when i say that this is gary's best ever chance of winning a british title, sexton who is a very skilled boxer doesn't really seem as interested in the past few years and his inactivity could play a big factor. going gary on points simmons vs askin: long time coming for big simmons and i'm made ups for him getting the fight for the british in edinburgh. this really is stephens chance to shine but askin is imo much improved and on a good roll. my heart wants simmons but as much as it pains me to say i think he might get pipped on points. But i will be the happiest man in meadowbank if he pulls it off philbin vs pagan: i see tommy getting revenge for team mate brian forsyth in this one, pagan looked ok in meadowbank last time but tommy imo will be too big, too strong and too skilled for him and i see pagan being stopped inside 4 rounds tiffany vs james: this is tiffany's chance too shine and if troy james isn't 100% in this one he will take a bit of a hiding imo i wasn't impressed with him against liam walsh and iirc he struggled against ronnie clark and only managed a split decision in his home town imo tiffany is due a good win and my only worry is that troy james has never made featherweight in his career so not sure he will make it for this fight. tiffany to stop troy james late on gallagher vs murray: don't know anything about either so it would be wrong of me to say anything on this fight so I'll leave it to others benson has been calling out eddie doyle on Facebook (a bit classless imo) but id love to see him call out jason easton and we can see if lewis can mess him about over 10 or 12 rounds the way he did as an amateur? will reassess when benson gets an opponent though, hopefully not just another journeyman heard conor law on the bill, i really rated him when he turned over but imo he has stagnated badly and needs a decent fight to actually get the best out of him. I'd love it to be a good opponent for him but similar to benson i fear it will be another journeyman as their team doesn't believe in them monty ogilvie: never rated him amateur but willing give him a chance but will be a poor opponent for him at this stage! aiden mcglynn: be interesting to see him on his debut paddy barnes: on the bill according to boxer but if he's on it i think it will just be a tick over fight ! thomas dickson: a bit deluded when you see him post on social media, claims to be a super feather but never made the weight? id like you see him vs ryan smith at lightweight on the show. that woudil be a decent fight between 2 scottish fighters needing a step up. maybe scottish super feather title?
Benson behaving like a bellend, would never have guessed. Wasn't so gallus when he **** himself and moved weights to avoid Taylor. That was after press articles slagging Taylor off. That guy will get flattened the moment he fights anyone with a pulse. Completely and Utterly deluded. Decent wee card with a few decent 50/50s in it so fair play for putting it together Samuel.
I watched benson against a polish journeyman from aberdeen at the forsyth vs pagan bill and although won he looked terrible and imo lost the last 2 rounds
I'm going for -- Cornish: if he can get through the early rounds I see him taking it on points Simmons: will rise to the big occassion and win it on points! Proper 50/50 Tiff: big ask but just the opportunity he needs. Close points win Murray - Gallagher: Gallagher won Commonwelath Gold beating Callum Smith in 2010 and is a top boxer. Dismantled Craig kelly last time out in belfast. Murray is up against it but I hope the Scotsman can pull it off! Philbin: been impressed with him. Good fight here. Going for philbin by late stoppage. cannot wait for this bill. Is Benson boxing Doyle?? Him v Easton would be great
I absolutely agree but it is still the fight I want in Edinburgh, so far Jason has pushed himself and looked top drawer whereas lewis benson with all his amateur titles etc has just treaded water and imo hasn't improved in the slightest when I've seen him fight. he struggled against that polish lad last time out and think in the pro's he will be found out. I've heard that lewis is amazing in the gym but lets be honest nothing gets won or lost in the gym
yeah benson won 3 out of 5 i believe but lewis was doing the old jab and told against him and at least 1 of the fights i watched, jason got shafted good and proper. but even if we forget the amateur fights i just feel that since both have turned over only jason has looked like he is progressing and his style adapting to the longer rounds. lewis just looks like he is doing the same thing as he always did and imo jason woudil probably get him out of there late on
the press conf is on ifltv now -- This content is protected simmons seems very confident, cant wait for his fight now!!!
really hope he pulls it off, he's a nice big guy and I hope his inactivity over the last few years doesn't hinder him as this could be last chance saloon for him in regards to titles
I see that lewis benson and billy Nelson have been having a bit of back and forth on twitter lewis really needs to get on with his career Imo so far he has done nothing but acts like boxing owes him something 1st it was Eddie Doyle who I've met on numerous occasions and there isn't a nicer more genuine guy you'll meet and now trying to get a rise out of billy so he can try piggy back off Jason Easton's professional achievements so far fight a decent fighter lewis and try sort out your career instead of arguing over social media to get fights you don't deserve or haven't earned yet
