Not a caption but I didn't think they had bright colours in those days.Has this been touched up or CGI'd or something?
I didn't realize how tall Sonny Liston was, or maybe it's the angle cause he makes Ali look minute. I'm not really sure, but I think it was touched up for the Ali spread in Ring Mag.
Color cameras existed in 1964. Those colors are legit. It's the angle. If you see the fight, you'll notice Clay/Ali is actually bigger than Liston.
IMO Ali had a great build, tall at 6'3 but very balanced. Strong legs helped carried that frame around for 12 rounds, and he was lean & cut up compared to the super heavys of today. Who seem to bulk up alot or are outright out of shape. Pardon my ignorance but I still don't understand the notion as to why Norton had a superior build to him.
Nah. Ali was the first guy Liston fought who was just as if not bigger than him (they were pretty much the same height but Liston looks smaller in fights due to his stance) Liston hit harder and had a bigger reach But Ali was way too fast & smart.
Ali: "Hey Sonny, tell your girlfriend that I like my eggs scrambled, not over easy. She does that **** every time man." Liston: " Tell me about it..."
