Just wondering really. This isnt really a question for boxing training but a few people in my gym recommend cardio after weights as the best time for losing body fat. Can anyone shed any light on this?? Like i said not for boxing training purely for fat loss. Cheers
In theory you use the carbs for the weights and then your body burns the fat for energy while your doing the cardio. But it still doesnt change **** if your eating more cals. The most important thing is a calorie expendenture (spelling?) not when you do your cardio
Cool. What kind of cardio would it be though i.e steady state or something a bit more intense? Im guessing if its to intense there will be a risk of more muscle loss
I have lost 50lbs in the past 6 months, I do weights and cardio the same day. I do a 10 or 15 min warmup on the treadmill ( just a fast walk, 3.9 mph) then hit the weights for about 30 to 45 min, after that I do 30 min of cardio. I never let my heart rate go above 150, usually I keep it in the 130-140 range. Losing fat is very easy, just eat better and exercise more.
Good stuff on the weight loss thats impresive stuff! Dont know much about heart rates does 150 mean that you will be pushing yourself?
Doesn't really matter broadly speaking. I do mine before i do weights to warm up and then up the intensity when I'm doing weights. Has helped me greatly in getting to my target weight and iv lost 25lbs. Ultimately the intensity is what 'really' matters.
Excellent simple advise. Iv done exactly the same routine for the last 4 months and have lost 25lbs. Consistency and intensity is everything.
First off, your diet HAS GOT TO BE in check. Once that's done, i'd do weights first (due to form) and THEN cardio afterwards. Dial your diet into eating 90% clean food, do intervals for your cardio and compound movements for your weights, and you should see a difference in no time ;-)
Congrats on the weight loss. Do you do boxing also? If so, how do you fit it in your schedule (I know I need to lose 20 to 30 lbs).
