Yeah Primate, i think that's what I recall off the top of my head. I agree also with your take on HIIT. However, those that have seen what I have written know that I believe in LSD training also, especially for newbies, which also has it's returning body of research after LSD got a bad rep for so many years. Anyways, good post and advice.:good
Yeah, I definitely believe LSD has its place, I think there's just too much emphasis placed on it in combat sports, especially when the majority of boxers are going to be in 3, 4 or 6 round fights. There's nothing wrong with putting in a few extra miles a couple of times a week, and it's certainly necessary for beginners to build up their base, but when it comes to prioritising training and getting the most efficiency out of your sessions LSD should fall way down the ladder.
Thanks for the reply Primate.:good Here is where I was coming from. When I read the post I remember seeing the title newbie under the name, and given the thread interpreted that this was somebody fairly new to exercise. Given this assumption, that is why I gave the advice of LSD. However, if one has a good base, then other methods are very beneficial also. I recall a post on here where a poster took somebody's advice, began doing hard intervals, and had symptoms of overtraining very fast(depression, slow mental and physical reaction, etc.) Clear "CNS stuff." Scrap commented on him improving his aerobic capacity before doing intervals, which was great advice. Another guy had trouble getting his heart rate down after only two intervals. I think he said it stayed around the 180s for over two minutes after an interval of around 15-20 secs(he was wearing a hr monitor). This is a prime example of not having a good fundamental aerobic base, and the ramifications from it. Often times folks go directly to intervals for advice to newbies when it is clearly not the best IF somebody is not in cardiac shape. LSD training creates specific cardiac adaptations that intervals cannot and vice versa, so both if prioritized properly, as you said have their place.
I find the most insane workout is burpees (with a pushup) and side straddle hops (jumping jacks). Eventually substituting the SSH with light jogging. That is brutal. It combines cardio, strength, speed, and coordination.
Bck620,,its a vertical Treadmill, youre running Horizotly making the cardio system work 35% more efficient without impact. Gravity this way helps the nueromuscular sytem work to its optimum without injury. Plus you can alter the ressistance to any reqiurement.
