Jack Johnson: Stay away from pro gals; put out against Hart; if you want TRY to up your legacy, give Langford a title shot. Jeffries: Don't draw the color line. Don't make risky investments, stay retired. If Roebler throws a medicine ball at you, slip to the side, don't try to block it. Get Jeffries-Corbett II on film. Sullivan: Either stay retired after Kilrain, or let Muldoon keep you in shape for Peter Jackson. Corbett or Fitzsimmons: If you want to TRY to up your legacy, fight Jackson in 1893. Fitzsimmons: If you want to TRY to up your legacy, give Corbett a rematch. Ketchel: Get Papke3 and your KO32 vs Joe Thomas filmed. Greb: Films.
Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier - Make Manila '75 your very last fight. Roberto Duran - Retire after fighting Iran Barkely
I know it probably wouldn't have done a great deal to his resume, but I would've rather seen George fight Jerry, or Oscar, than Jose Roman.
Perhaps he couldn't have done much better. He has arguably the two best wins in heavyweight history, 20 years apart. He must have got pleanty right.
That's true, but it would have been nice to seen George in against Shavers, Tyson (no fault of his own), or even coming up, a possible crossroads matchup with a Mac Foster, or Floyd Patterson.
